Summary
Qiao Mei found herself transmigrated into a novel as a minor character doomed to a tragic fate. In the original plot, she was an overweight country girl, doted on by her ailing grandfather but despised by greedy relatives. Desperate to secure her future, her grandfather schemed to marry her off to Xia Zhe, a handsome soldier, by getting him drunk and forcing them into a compromising situation. This ill-fated marriage marked the beginning of her suffering.
To make matters worse, Qiao Mei was supposed to inherit a mysterious jade, but her naive self in the original story was tricked by her cunning cousin, leading to her downfall.
Now, with full awareness of the plot, Qiao Mei woke up at the very moment her grandfather’s plan was about to unfold. Determined to change her fate, she quickly drove her grandfather away, shoved Xia Zhe out, and faced her reflection—round, tanned, and far from appealing.
She had to take control. Step one: Lose weight. Step two: Restore order to her chaotic home. Step three: Guard the jade at all costs.
But one thing puzzled her—Xia Zhe, who was supposed to despise her, was suddenly treating her with unexpected kindness. Had she already altered the story’s course?
