Chapter 718: Max’s Queries

Lyra’s eyes turned hard. “There is always a war being waged—out in the skies, beneath the ground, behind locked gates no one speaks of. A war between the Four God Nations and the Seven Overlord Forces of the Middle Domain… against the Ascendants. The so-called cursed beings believed to be behind the origin of the Nulls.”

The name Ascendants echoed in Max’s mind causing his expression to turn solemn as well. He hadn’t seen them since his last encounter with them.

“But those battles are not yours to fight—not yet,” Lyra continued, voice cool. “Those are the fights of Monarchs and Saints, of rulers and the truly ancient. Your job… is to support that war. To hunt and eradicate the Nulls from our lands. To burn away their nests, destroy their shadows, and keep the Middle Domain from crumbling into void.”

Then she turned and looked at the six of them—all of them—her gaze sharp and unwavering. “I only want two things from each of you.”

Her tone became like steel. “First, as a 2-star genius of the Great Ruler Empire, you are required to register with the Hunter Association. That is your right—and your first mission as a 2-star genius. This is the first task expected from someone with your title. You must stand on the frontlines of this eternal war and prove yourself.”

She let that sink in before continuing. “Second… you six must earn enough merit through missions and achievements to gain access to the Void Hall.”

Hearing Lyra utter the name Void Hall, a clear shift swept through the room like a gust of wind. The five Champion Rank geniuses, who had until now carried themselves with a mixture of arrogance and cautious curiosity, suddenly froze and exchanged uneasy glances.

It was as if a forgotten memory had been stirred in each of them—a name whispered in the shadows of ancient records or rumored in the training grounds of their forces.

“Leader Lyra…” Lena, the sharp-eyed genius, calm and composed one, broke the silence, her voice low and uncertain. “Isn’t that a bit too difficult?” Her frown deepened, and the others subtly nodded, mirroring her concern.

But Lyra, standing tall like an unshakable pillar of will, simply shook her head. Her eyes held a quiet fire, one forged from years of responsibility and knowledge that they did not yet understand.

“You five are not just any ordinary geniuses,” she said, her voice calm but steely. “You were all chosen and cultivated under the banner of the Great Ruler Empire, trained for one singular goal—to get into the top ten of the Heaven Mandate Rankings Tournament seven years from now, after the next one.”

She let those words hang in the air, every syllable carrying weight. “This tournament will be unlike anything the Middle Domain has seen in centuries. Do not shy away from the paths that can prepare you for it. The Void Hall is not a mere challenge—it is an opportunity. One that most would kill for. So, you must not walk away from it, no matter how impossible it may seem now.”

The hesitation in the room gradually melted away as her words took root in their hearts. The five geniuses straightened, their eyes now filled with a faint but growing resolve. They nodded in unison, a show of solidarity and acceptance.

“Leader Lyra, we will do our task. Don’t worry,” they said together, their voices steady.

Lyra gave a faint smile. “Good. These are the only things I want from you for now. The war against the Nulls will forge your battle strength and will. But the Void Hall… it can help you increase your true strength. You already know the kind of inheritance and strength that place holds. Many who entered it in the past came out with powers capable of shaking regions.”

Max stood quietly at the edge of the group, his expression unreadable. But deep inside, he was already carving the name into his bones. ’Void Hall.’ He repeated it like a vow in his mind.

He didn’t need any more convincing. If that place could truly boost his strength… if it was the next step forward on his path, then he would go—no matter what stood in his way. And if it meant cutting down thousands of Nulls, so be it. He had already made peace with the path of blood long ago especially against Nulls.

Lyra turned her full attention to Max now, her sharp gaze softening slightly. “What are your queries?” she asked, her voice steady and expectant.

Max didn’t hesitate. “I want to go to a region filled with star energy,” he said, his tone calm but firm. “Or a place where you can feel the star energy around you clearly. And also…” he paused slightly, “a place where lightning falls continuously—nonstop—for years.”

That made Lyra’s brow arch in curiosity. The room went silent again as all eyes shifted to Max. His request wasn’t something people heard every day. Star energy? Continuous lightning storms? Even among the vast and mysterious regions of the Middle Domain, such places weren’t common.

“Why?” Lyra asked, tilting her head. “Why would you want to go to such unusual regions?”

Max didn’t answer right away. He met her gaze directly, his voice low but resolute. “Because going there will greatly increase my strength.”

Lyra looked at him for a moment, studying him. She knew Max wasn’t the type to ask for help unless it was important. For him to reach out meant this was crucial, possibly linked to one of his inheritances. She closed her eyes for a second, recalling what she knew.

“Star energy…” she muttered thoughtfully, then a small smile formed on her lips. “If it were anything else, I might’ve said it’s too difficult to locate. But not star energy.”

She opened her eyes and looked at him. “Have you ever heard of the Heavenly Star Profound Domain?”

Max shook his head. Honestly he didn’t know anything that wasn’t mentioned in the diary Old Saintess had given him.
