Chapter 909: Value of perspective

The Feilin City’s library was unlikely to have some groundbreaking knowledge about Medicine Dao and Wood attribute that Wu Long was not aware of.

However, it had a lot of research made by scholars and practitioners of the Medicine Dao who lived here in the past, each making their own very specific small research and recording their findings.

Knowledge that was only local to this continent and was not really valuable enough to be spread widely beyond it.

And as Wu Long never visited this continent before, it naturally was something that he never saw.

Sometimes, such seemingly insignificant and specific information could inspire a larger realization or enlightenment, or lead to some breakthrough in a completely unrelated and unexpected different field of knowledge.

Not to mention, even the general knowledge that Wu Long could provide her, when it was written by different people with their own understanding of the Medicine Dao and their own ways of explaining and teaching things, was slightly different.

Similar to how two books of different authors could describe the same thing differently, there was a chance of finding one that fit her better, and thus gave her better understanding of the subjects.

Of course, finding something really valuable, whether that was a hidden nugget of information that could inspire a greater realization, or an interpretation of general knowledge that fit her, in that ocean of texts accumulated over countless years was incredibly hard, with low probability of success, but it wasn’t impossible, which was why Wu Long encouraged Gong Liwei to try.

He didn’t expect, however, that she would return with real results so soon as he came out to greet her and Nie Xiwang to the courtyard of the inn they were staying in.

“Wu Long!”, Gong Liwei excitedly ran to him and hugged him as Nie Xiwang calmly followed with a gentle smile.

“It seems you have worked hard Liwei”, Wu Long smiled after the initial surprise, embracing the beauty who had just returned from the City Library after spending almost a full day there, “Congratulations”

He could see that she achieved some kind of a breakthrough in the Wood attribute regarding the Medicine Dao by the enlightened look in her eyes, and the quality of her Wood Qi slightly changed.

She smiled with eyes sparkling with joy, and received a kiss which she eagerly answered.

“It’s all thanks to Sister Xiwang!”, Gong Liwei replied after the kiss and turning to the other beauty.

“I only found jade slips which I thought matched Sister Liwei”, Nie Xiwang shook her head, as it was truly all that she did.

The Blade Empress was a different kind of Dao Cultivator from Luo Mingyu, not only because she practiced Equilibrium Dao, but also in terms of her ability to project knowledge.

She was adept at understanding, and her Truth Seeking Eyes made her even more effective in comprehending her own Dao, but she was not as skilled at explaining or passing on the knowledge.

In that she was quite similar to Wu Long, and her accompanying Gong Liwei normally wouldn’t significantly raise the latter’s ability to learn and comprehension.

However, her Truth Seeking Eyes also could see a cultivator’s inner essence, the ‘aura of their Dao’.

And all of the texts in the library were stored in jade slips, containing a lingering aura of the cultivators who recorded them, which in a vast majority of cases were the original authors.

And thus to Nie Xiwang, it was plain as day to see, which jade slips ‘matched’ the ‘feel’ of Gong Liwei the way she saw her with the Truth Seeking Eyes.

Wu Long’s eyes widened, realizing he completely missed this possibility, and then his smile widened as he beckoned the Blade Empress while still embracing Gong Liwei with his left arm, “Come here, Xiwang”

Although she truly thought her contribution was just finding the right jade slips mostly thanks to her Truth Seeking Eyes which she was just born with, Nie Xiwang couldn’t resist such an invitation, coming up to him, and as soon as she was in the range, grabbed by his arm around her waist and pulled into his embrace, a kiss landing on her lips.

“Thank you, Xiwang. You did great, you did more than great. You uncovered a whole new possibility”, Wu Long spoke after the kiss ended.

“You mean… finding the right match?”, she asked.

“Mm, you saw how big of a deal it is to obtain knowledge from a source that matches you”, Wu Long nodded, turning to Gong Liwei.

Gong Liwei nodded in agreement, “Mm, the things I was struggling to understand were explored from a completely different perspective, and in different language, which was incredibly easy to understand”

It took just reading through a few of the jade slips that Nie Xiwang found for Gong Liwei for the latter to achieve a major breakthrough in her understanding.

“I see…”, goosebumps of excitement ran through Nie Xiwang as she finally recognized the potential of this development.

Wu Long was no doubt extremely knowledgeable, his memory containing knowledge so vast and varied that it would not be an exaggeration to say that his mind was one of the greatest libraries of the Seven Boundless Worlds.

However, he only ever consumed knowledge up to the point of understanding it himself. And thus the texts he could recite with complete accuracy, and record into jade slips for others, were not as varied in perspectives as to match everyone around him.

In fact, some of the texts were so highly technical and difficult to understand for others that it required Luo Mingyu’s help to rewrite them in a more easy-to-understand way.

With Nie Xiwang’s ability, however, every major library or storage of knowledge was now a treasure trove for the entire Dao Family.

Wu Long led the two beauties inside and to sit with him, keeping them in his embrace and bringing them closer as they comfortably snuggled into his embrace.

“We should go tomorrow as well”, Gong Liwei spoke with excitement, Nie Xiwang eagerly nodding in complete agreement.

“Haha, there’s no need to rush”, Wu Long chuckled, rubbing his forehead against Gong Liwei’s, and added to both beauties as he leaned a bit back to the backrest of the sofa to look at them together, “Progress has to be consolidated before further progress is made atop that”

“I know… I guess I was just in a rush”, Gong Liwei sighed, making a wry smile.

“Take the time to enjoy it, Liwei”, Wu Long said as he pulled Nie Xiwang to lean her head onto his chest and patted the back of her head over the silky black hair, “Making progress and becoming better is only meaningful if you take your time to be in the moment. And of course, because of times like this”

Her eyes widened a bit as she saw in his eyes the very thing he talked about. How much he savored every moment with them, how much it meant to him to spend time just enjoying their presence, and a warm smile full of pure joy appeared on her lips as she leaned onto him as well, snuggling closer.

A content smile appeared on his lips, as a warm and fuzzy, comfortable atmosphere spread around them.

This caused Nie Xiwang to start contemplating, as she looked back on the time she spent with Wu Long and the Dao Family.

Although she certainly enjoyed it, she seemingly was also partially lost in the pursuit of a new path.

After all, after she abdicated her throne and followed Wu Long, she was slightly at a loss, suddenly liberated of a massive burden she was carrying most of her conscious life, free of the shackles of ruling and shackles of constantly defending her position and safety from her family, free of all anxieties.

Most of the time in a day that used to be full was now empty, and the threats that kept her on edge no longer were there.

He gave her a new purpose in pursuing her Dao, and becoming a true Empress of Blades, one whose title could not be questioned even in the wider world, and further.

And this was her only anchor for all this time to maintain her identity apart from being his woman. To have purpose and meaning as an individual. After all, her upbringing an life up to the point of meeting Wu Long didn’t allow her to develop a sense of ‘living’ and ‘self’ as one normally would.

However, she realized, that his words just now, seemingly directed at Gong Liwei, were also spoken for her.

It was at this timing, when she finally found her Truth Seeking Eyes to be a true blessing because they could be of help to Wu Long, and thus become a little bit more at peace with her past, that she was able to understand what he meant by those words and truly appreciate them.

Not before when she was too desperately in search of her new identity, but now.

A subtle and quiet, almost imperceptible formless wave spread from Nie Xiwang, whose Dao finally progressed after being stuck in place for quite some time.

But that meant little to her in this moment, as she leaned onto Wu Long’s chest listened to the sound of his heart and truly enjoyed this peaceful and quiet moment.
