Chapter 1713: Chapter 1274: Forgot to Ask Which Family the Shadow Belonged To

Anthony and Negris felt a jolt in their hearts: Why does this name sound so familiar?

Negris, with a good memory, quickly recalled where he had heard it before; it was mentioned by Nightmare Saya as one of the things that instill fear in the star progeny here, including the Divine Star Shadow.

It’s just that at the time, a black vine was more shocking to everyone, so it was ignored, and later forgotten to be investigated. After all, the name sounded more like a natural phenomenon, like a solar eclipse.

But now someone says that the Divine Star Shadow doesn’t refer to a natural phenomenon, but to this?

After exchanging a glance, Anthony’s expression froze, and he said with confusion, “Divine Star Shadow? I’ve heard of it, but isn’t it supposed to refer to the shadow cast by the God Star, or the shadow cast on the God Star? What does it have to do with you?”

Being accustomed to cooperation, with just a look and expression from Anthony, Negris knew how to play along and put on a similarly puzzled face:

“I wouldn’t think it’s a cast shadow. The God Star is a major light source from the start, and nothing can cast a shadow on it; it cannot cast shadows either. There’s nothing in the void brighter than it. I think it refers to the relatively dim areas on the God Star’s surface, hence called a shadow. But what does it have to do with you?”

The Divine Star Shadow was stunned, thinking, I’m saying I’m the Divine Star Shadow, why are you arguing about ’how shadows form’? It’s like someone claiming to be beautiful, and you start discussing whether beautiful people defecate, utterly baffling.

However, the Divine Star Shadow was certain these people had never heard of it before. Forget it, don’t bother with these ignorant folks.

The Divine Star Shadow forced a smile and said, “You indeed don’t know me, but never mind, you know now. You can call me Kadiz. What’s your situation? Why do you have this familiar energy? If regular ones are called star progeny, then you should be called divine progeny, right?”

Divine progeny? Why does that sound so rustic? Isn’t it just like those beings on the Master Plane who claim to be godly descendants? Even dwarves call themselves descendants of the War God and God of Forging, goblins claim to be descendants of the God of Machinery and God of Business, and humans call themselves the Chosen, descendants of all gods.

Though it sounds a bit crude, Anthony and Negris understood its meaning: normal star progeny are called star progeny, while their kind, being more akin to the Little Fireman, are called divine progeny.

Anthony pretended to be puzzled and asked, “Is there any difference? Which is more advanced? We’ve been like this since birth.”

“Of course, I mean… you are more advanced. You are the direct lineage of the God Star, while they are merely the radiation of the God Star’s light,” Kadiz said arrogantly.

Anthony and Negris were taken aback. Is there really such a huge difference? They watched Ange form his shape, with his consciousness merging into the God Star, causing it to boil, and when he was cast out, he turned into this form.

Was this casually formed state so advanced? Is it because it was directly condensed with the God Star’s power, making it direct lineage? The other star progeny arose from the illumination of the light, making them illegitimate?

Such an analysis seemed to make some sense, but Ange’s form was self-created, unrelated to the Little Fireman; they could only be considered Ange’s direct lineage.

Anthony immediately tried to build a rapport, saying, “So that’s how it is. No wonder I’ve always felt a barrier with those star progeny but feel very close to you.”

“Oh, really? You also feel that way, that’s great. Come on in, let’s chat, tell me how you came to be. I’m really curious.” As Kadiz spoke, it sank down, forming a shadow on the ground, and something could vaguely be seen in the shadow.

Are we supposed to walk into the shadow? Anthony and Negris exchanged a glance, and then they both looked at Ange.

Ange took a look and walked over.

Anthony and Negris let out a breath, quickly following. If there was any place Ange deemed safe, then it truly was safe, or the dangers there were ineffective against Ange.

As they stepped into the shadow, they instantly felt the world change. The intense light suddenly vanished, replaced by vast expanses of darkness. The original scorching high temperature disappeared, the temperature dropped drastically, and the contrast made them feel a bit cold.

“What a magical field,” Negris exclaimed in surprise.

A field refers to an area where the operating rules have changed. It can be a standalone space or non-independent, causing changes only in a certain region.

For example, some powerful wizards can alter the operational rules of a small area. Take Aestolia, for instance; she is the arch-nemesis of mages, a wasteland for elements, God of Truth and Law, and her field is anti-magic.

And the fields of deities are called Divine Realms, like the Goddess of Redemption’s treasury, or the War and Peace Goddess’s Deactivation Divine Realm… uh, what it was called before doesn’t matter; Ange considers it a deactivation storage, perfect for storing items that need sterilization and disinfection.

Above fields, there are dimensions, and below there are boundaries, with very detailed classifications.

Clearly, Kadiz’s realm was a field; here, light and heat were diminished, turning places originally lit into patterns, while originally dark places became bright, like an undeveloped magic film negative showing inverse display.

Ange and the others followed Kadiz as they walked forward, and the entire field moved with them, continually enveloping them.

Several star progeny passed by but seemed unable to see them, walking past directly. One even stepped into the field’s range with their leg without noticing anything, walking naturally over.

Just like that, they walked out from the shaded side of a leaf and reached the sunlit side, where the intense light turned the originally black-and-white field into pitch ’black.’

“This is too miraculous; it’s clearly intense light, yet the field is so dark you can’t see your fingers,” Negris exclaimed in surprise.

“Heh,” Kadiz’s voice sounded from ahead, “the ultimate light and the ultimate dark are the same. Out of the field, you might see nothing just the same; the God Star’s light elevates everything.”

The so-called sunny side of a leaf is the underside, as it directly faces the God Star, with intense direct sunlight, bringing strong light and heat, with temperatures reaching thousands of degrees, making it impossible for even star progeny to move freely on the sunny side.

Now, leveraging a field, Ange and the group effortlessly reached the sunlit side. Though Negris couldn’t see anything clearly, following behind Ange allowed him to move easily, clearly indicating that Ange could see.

With twists and turns, the pitch-black view suddenly changed as they entered a crevice, where the light had varying intensities, allowing Anthony and Negris to finally see clearly.

In the crevice, a dozen candle-like tall and thin humanoid star progeny were moving about. Seeing this, Anthony suddenly remarked on the Soul Network, “We seem to have forgotten to ask which God Star’s shadow he’s from.”
