Chapter 415: Creating the Ancient Treant Legion
Ancient Treant Guardian… it is a sentient being born from the core of the Ancient Heartwood Tree to protect the realm and the Greenfolk People in it.
It has the strength of a Peak Nascent Soul Realm Cultivator, and since it is directly connected to the Ancient Heartwood Tree, its energy comes from the tree.
As long as the Ancient Heartwood Tree has Spirit Essence and Lifespan, the Ancient Treant Guardian is invincible.
Such a powerful being was waiting for Ethan’s orders. So, how could Ethan not be excited about it?
‘I thought I would have to convince the Ancient Treant Guardian to listen to my commands; however, the Ancient Heartwood Tree must have made me its master.’
‘Anyway, it is time to create the Treant Legion.’
With a smile, Ethan started working on it as he ordered the Ancient Treant Guardian, “Create 10 Ancient Treant Commanders and 10,000 Ancient Treant Warriors.”
“Yes, Respected Hero.”
The Ancient Treant Guardian’s eyes shone with a green light as he started using the Ancient Heartwood Tree’s prowess to create the Treant Legion.
[The 10 Ancient Treant Commanders have been created]
[10 Years of Ancient Heartwood Tree’s Lifespan have been consumed]
[The 10,000 Ancient Treant Warriors have been created]
[10 Years of Ancient Heartwood Tree’s Lifespan have been consumed]
[Current Lifespan: 436.8 years]
The Ancient Treant Commanders and the Ancient Treant Warriors looked similar to the Ancient Treant Guardian but were smaller and weaker than he.
Also, unlike the Ancient Treant Guardian, they can’t speak and can only follow the commands issued by the Ancient Treant Guardian.
‘Since the Ancient Treant Legion is formed now, it is time to lure the Undead Legion to the Stronghold.’
With a smile on his face, Ethan looked at the Ancient Treant Guardian and was about to give orders when he suddenly remembered something.
“My name is Ethan. What is your name?”
Earlier, Ethan was excited that he forgot to ask for the Ancient Treant Guardian’s name and for further communication, knowing names is basic.
“Sir Ethan, I have no name.”
The Ancient Treant Guardian shook his head, his wooden face showing no sorrow—only an honest admission, as if it were a fact of nature.
Yet his voice carried a strange longing, a humble yearning to belong.
“Hm… since you are a tree man who gives vibes similar to a knight, I will call you… Arboris.”
As the name left Ethan’s lips, a faint green shimmer ran across the Guardian’s bark-covered frame.
His eyes glowed with serene reverence as he bent one knee and lowered his branch-like arms in a respectful salute.
“Arboris…” he repeated softly, “A noble name. I shall cherish it for eternity. Thank you, Sir Ethan.”
A faint smile appeared on Ethan’s face as he nodded.
“Now, let’s go. We have work to do.”
With the naming complete, Ethan led Arboris and the entire Ancient Treant Legion toward the border where vibrant Life met the decaying grip of Death.
“This is the current boundary where the Life and Death Region meets.”
Ethan stopped and turned toward Arboris. “You stay here. I’ll lure the Undead Legion into the Life Region.”
Although the Treants could technically leave the Life Region, Ethan knew too well—once exposed to the Death Region’s Death Essence, their vitality would drain rapidly.
Their tree bodies would grow sluggish, and their natural strengths would be suppressed.
“Understood.”
Arboris lowered his head. “The Legion shall stand ready.”
Ethan nodded and stepped forward, entering the Death Region alone. The atmosphere was nothing new to Ethan.
The air was cold and heavy, reeking faintly of rot. Ethan’s breath formed a faint white mist as he walked in the Death Region.
“Dark Overlord, come out.”
First, he summoned his Undead Avatar and then, without wasting time, he sat down cross-legged and began cultivating.
Soon, the Death Essence of the Death Region swirled around him, but thanks to his Heavenly Talent, Ethan absorbed it calmly, converting it into Spirit Essence before nurturing his Obsidian Spirit Root.
One hour passed by, and the guests that Ethan was waiting for had finally appeared.
Ten Undead Armies, clad in rotting armour and wielding corrupted weapons, emerged slowly like puppets pulled by invisible strings. Their lifeless eyes locked onto Ethan.
‘Let’s use them to test how strong the Treant Legion is.’
If Ethan wanted to, he could take care of them right away; however, he wanted to test the battle prowess of the Treant Army.
Without even engaging them, he stood up and retreated.
Once locked onto their target, the Undead Armies would give a relentless chase, shambling forward with undead tenacity.
“Arboris, show me your prowess.”
Once the Undead Armies entered the Life Region, Ethan gave the command to the Ancient Treant Guardian with a faint smirk.
“Yes, Sir Ethan.”
Arboris nodded firmly. The wooden plates of his armour creaked slightly as he raised his right arm.
‘Swish! Swish! Swish!’
In the next instant, ten thick, sharpened stakes—each glowing with faint green runes—launched from Arboris’s body like arrows. They howled through the air before finding their marks with terrifying precision.
‘Puhk! Puhk! Puhk!’
Each stake pierced cleanly through the skulls of the ten Undead Commanders, pinning them to the ground like broken puppets.
Their eyes dimmed, and they finally found eternal rest.
“So powerful,”
Ethan murmured, but his face was calm. He wasn’t surprised in the slightest.
After all, Arboris was a Peak Nascent Soul Realm being.
Taking care of a bunch of Peak Golden Core Realm Undead Commanders was just the bare minimum he could do. In fact, he didn’t even use his full strength.
Without the Commanders to give orders, the remaining Undead Warriors moved like headless insects.
“Treant Legion, advance.”
Thus, under Arboris’s command, the ground trembled as sturdy Treant Commanders and Warriors surged forward.
In less than a minute, all 10,000 Undead Skeletons were cleared.
‘They are good,’ Ethan nodded and turned back into the Death Region again.
Without wasting time, he sat down and entered his cultivation state as once again the Death Essence surged like a tide, but his Heavenly Talent took care of everything and provided the pure Golden Essence to his Obsidian Spirit Root, which greedily absorbed it and refined it.
An hour passed quietly.
Rattle…
Another wave had arrived, and just like a few months ago, it was the Undead Legion that was being led by the Undead General that appeared in the distance.
Ten thousand Undead Warriors.
Ten Undead Commanders.
And one figure clad in obsidian-black armour—an Undead General.
‘Finally, it is here. Let’s see how the Treant Legion will fare against the Undead Legion now.’
“Arboris, go all out and take care of it as soon as possible.”
Just like before, Ethan turned around and calmly retreated into the Life Region and ordered the Ancient Treant Guardian.
Previously, the Undead General merged with the entire Undead Legion to become a powerful entity.
Thus, Ethan ordered Arboris to take care of the Undead General before he could use any such powerful moves.
Soon after, he was ready to watch the fight between the two legions from the sidelines.
‘I wonder how long the fight will—’
Before Ethan could finish that thought, he saw something that thoroughly shocked him.
‘T-this… this Ancient Treant Guardian… I didn’t expect him to be this powerful?’
