Chapter 419: The Abyssal Son of the Undead Race
While Ethan’s soul was inside the Dark Overlord’s body, he was unable to use any of his original skills or talents or bloodlines.
In short, he could only use the Dark Overlord’s skills.
Moreover, since he was currently away from the Main Body, the Dark Overlord’s Special Skill [Loyal Soldier] was useless as he wouldn’t receive Ethan’s 90 percent Battle Prowess.
Even if he did, there was no way Ethan in the Dark Overlord’s body could defeat the Undead Legion.
Even if he wanted to run, there was no way he could outrun… at least not with his current skeleton body that didn’t have any movement techniques.
‘Since the Undead General seems to have some intelligence, I might be able to reason with him.’
With that thought, Ethan chose not to act recklessly.
Instead, he stood still as his gaze fixed on the slowly approaching Undead Legion.
Soon, the oppressive aura thickened as the Undead Legion halted just a few meters away from him.
“Undead… General,”
After hesitating for a moment, Ethan spoke first, in a rough voice that echoed slightly in the dead-silent land.
“Oh?”
A deep, hoarse voice responded as a tall figure stepped forward.
Covered in black armour tinged with bone-white patterns, the Undead General’s pale, hollow gaze locked onto Ethan.
“Interesting… I didn’t expect to encounter an Abyssal Son here.”
There was no hostility in his tone, only curiosity.
Ethan blinked. “Ab… Abyssal Son? What is that?”
He instinctively took a step back, but the Undead General made no move to attack. Instead, a faint flicker of amusement flashed in his dull eye sockets in which purple-colored flames flickered.
At the same time, Ethan heaved a silent sigh of relief, thinking that at the very least, he wasn’t getting torn apart right away.
“You truly don’t know?” the Undead General asked in a tone mixed with surprise and mild pity. “Well… I suppose that’s natural.”
He paused, then spoke slowly, as though explaining to a lost junior:
“Generally, we Undead gain sentience only after stepping into the Nether Soul Realm. But in rare cases, some special Undead beings awaken their consciousness far earlier. Those are called Abyssal Sons.”
‘So I’m… a special case?’
Ethan’s eyes widened slightly.
“That alone is rare enough,” the Undead General continued, his tone now more serious. “But you… Not only did you awaken your sentience prematurely, you’ve also started cultivating on your own… without the Corpse Emperor’s blessing.”
Ethan’s breath caught in his throat. He hadn’t expected his odd transformation and cultivation path to be so shocking to other Undead.
“Is that… a bad thing?” he asked cautiously.
The Undead General didn’t immediately respond. Instead, he turned his gaze toward the bleak sky above, then said, “Cultivating like this… draws from the natural Death Essence in the realm. It is forbidden—at least until we fully take over this territory.”
“So, whenever there is a massive drop in the Death Essence, the Undead Armies will come to solve the problem.”
He pointed at the bones of the Undead Army that Ethan destroyed before the arrival of the Undead Legion and explained about it.
“I see…” Ethan nodded slowly, as though he realised it now.
Actually, Ethan learned about this the moment he entered the Greenheart Realm and using this natural mechanism, Ethan took care of many Undead Armies and even dozens of Undead Legions.
“Then… if we can’t cultivate, how do we grow stronger?”

As a curious Undead Being who gained sentience recently, Ethan had lots of questions… so, he went along with his new identity and asked a question.
“Haha… you must have had a strong thirst for power when you were alive. Not bad. That desire… it lingers, even in death.”
The Undead General let out a low chuckle as he looked Ethan up and down, as if evaluating him.
“We, Undead, don’t rely on conventional cultivation.”
Once he finished his evaluation, the Undead General explained, “Once we receive the Corpse Emperor’s Blessing, our bodies passively absorb
Death Essence from the surroundings. That not only raises our strength steadily but also helps corrupt and spread death into the realm.”
“So… that’s why so many Undead roam these lands endlessly?”
Ethan’s eyes narrowed as he finally understood the reason behind their roaming in the Death Region.
“Correct,” the General nodded. “It’s not random. Every step we take spreads death essence, and every moment we exist contributes to the expansion of the Death Region. It’s all part of the Emperor’s plan.”
Ethan finally understood. The Undead weren’t just mindlessly wandering—they were spreading. Corrupting. Conquering the Greenheart Realm.
“I want to become powerful… Can the Senior General help me receive the Corpse Emperor’s Blessing?”
After thinking for a moment, Ethan hesitantly asked for the Undead General’s help.
“Even if you didn’t ask, I will bring you to the City of Bones to receive your Blessings from the Corpse Emperor.”
Soon, the Undead General brought Ethan deeper into the Death Region and along the way, Ethan slowly asked some questions, and surprisingly, the Undead General answered everything without thinking much.
Thanks to his conversation with the Undead General, Ethan learned that there were three Base Death Cities created in the Death Region of the Greenheart Realm to take over the entire realm.
They are:
[1) City of Bones]
[2) City of Ghouls]
[3) City of Spectrals]
In these cities, the high-level Undead Beings reside, while cultivating, they also manage their armies.
“You know, you are lucky?”
Suddenly, the Undead General said that and even before Ethan could ask anything, he continued, “The Corpse Emperor will be returning in a month. If not, you would have had to wait for who knows how long to receive his blessings?”
“What? The Corpse Emperor is not in the realm? And will be returning in a month?”
Ethan’s blue soul flames flickered violently for a moment as a chill passed through his skeletal body.
Only now did he realise why he was able to peacefully expand the Life Region for so long.
So it wasn’t that the Undead Army was ignoring him—it was that the true ruler of the Undead hadn’t even been present in the Greenheart Realm!
“Of course,” the Undead General responded with a low chuckle.
“The Corpse Emperor has many realms to invade. The Greenheart Realm is merely one of them. But, he will be coming back in a month… things will move much faster then.”
Ethan remained silent, his mind racing with thoughts. ‘So, the real war will begin in a month.’
[A new system mission has been generated]
As soon as he learned that the Corpse Emperor was not in the realm, Ethan received a system notification regarding a new mission.
Although he was unable to use the skills, bloodlines or talents of his main body, the system, which was connected to his soul, obviously followed him into the Undead Avatar.
So, Ethan was not surprised by the system notification; however, he was surprised to receive a new mission which he was not expecting.
‘Check’
Since it appeared after learning about the Corpse Emperor, Ethan felt it must be an important mission.
Hence, he hurriedly checked the details of the mission.
[Mission Name: Destroy at least 1000 Undead Generals before the Corpse Emperor arrives]
[Reward: Three Random High-level Life Cards]
[Penalty: Life Region will return to 10 percent]
[Information: The Corpse Emperor is furious to hear from his subordinate leaders that the Life Region has rapidly increased to 35 percent within a short time and has decided to rush back to the Greenheart Realm to solve the issue]
