Chapter 1244: Chapter 1243: Immortal Emperor, Lv Clan

Or rather, the Rat King here, along with the countless Little White Bone Demons, were all reared by him.

They were meant to set up the Twenty-Eight Sha of the Yellow Springs formation.

“It’s not that I don’t want to meet you, it’s that my true body is too far away to arrive in a short time,” the Crow began to speak.

“If you plan to pass through the Chaotic Burial Valley, I can have the Black Crow lead the way. It will guide you out peacefully.”

“What’s this? Realized you can’t win, so now you want to let it go?” Xu Zimei asked.

“You’ve already destroyed my Yellow Springs Formation and so many of my conduits. I wasn’t specifically targeting you; this is simply what everyone entering the Chaotic Burial Valley faces.”

A voice in the darkness said, “Survive it, and you may pass through the valley. Fail, and you’ll find your grave here.”

“Who are you?” Xu Zimei paused for a moment, then asked.

“It doesn’t matter. I’m someone who should have perished in the Ghost God era,” the voice in the darkness responded again.

“No need to meet face-to-face. You don’t need to know me.”

“Then lead the way. I’m heading to Lv City,” Xu Zimei said directly.

The other party had no intention of showing themselves, and Xu Zimei couldn’t be bothered to care.

The Crow spread its wings once more, black feathers scattering as it flew ahead of Xu Zimei, cawing toward the depths of the Chaotic Burial Valley.

Xu Zimei sped forward, chasing after it.

The further he went, the more the size of the Chaotic Burial Valley exceeded Xu Zimei’s imagination—it was approximately hundreds of thousands of square meters.

The gravestones and the countless fallen warriors were uncountable.

Yet, whether these gravestones marked gods or ghosts, they had all been preserved impeccably.

It was evident that the one who ruled this place handled these graves delicately and with great reverence.

Following the Crow, Xu Zimei ran relentlessly for three days and three nights.

At last, on the eleventh day at dawn, he passed through the Chaotic Burial Valley and arrived before a city a few dozen miles away.

The Crow dissolved into the void as Xu Zimei studied the city in front of him.

“The King’s City!”

As he passed through the King’s City, the sunset was ignored, as the world itself resembled a stunning painting.

Looking up to the heavens, he saw an exceedingly rare beam of sunlight. Like a single thread of light, it descended from the firmament.

For the first time since arriving in this world, Xu Zimei witnessed sunlight falling from the skies. Its rays enveloped the King’s City, suffusing it in a golden glow.

It made for a truly breathtaking sight.

At the spacious city gate, crowds bustled to and fro.

Entering through the gates, Xu Zimei was soon surrounded by the long-lost sensation of vibrant prosperity.

After days of hardship in the Chaotic Burial Valley, it was rare to behold such bustling streets.

“The daughter of the Lv Clan is arriving.”

“Indeed, but hadn’t she opposed this marriage all along?”

“Well, the Lv Clan is in such dire straits now. If they don’t rely on our Wang Family, what else can they do?”

“Quick, look! The wedding procession has already reached Yueyang Inn.”

The city was brimming with celebration. Red lanterns hung from the city gates and stretched along the street corners.

Crimson fabrics adorned the streets, and every corner displayed celebratory posters.

Xu Zimei walked down the main avenue, hoping to find an inn to rest in.

He walked with his head lowered, contemplating. Before leaving White Emperor City, he had discussed plans with Xie Changliu.

The two had decided to act separately—Xu Zimei would head to Lv City to fulfill his promise to Sage Lv, while Xie Changliu went ahead to Rihua City to wait for him.

After all, with the Evil Demon King relentlessly pursuing him, traveling with Xie Changliu would be inconvenient and far too risky.

Just as his thoughts deepened, a sharp neigh from a horse suddenly pierced his ears.

“Damn it! This idiot is blocking the way—if he gets trampled to death, he deserves it! Why even bother?” an angry shout rang out.

“Get out of the way!”

Xu Zimei looked up to see a horse-drawn carriage just inches ahead of him.

The startled horse had broken into a frantic gallop, and a burly man stood directly in its path. With muscular arms, he forcibly grabbed the unruly horse and slammed it to the ground.

The process of toppling the horse also caused the connected carriage to tilt and partially collapse to the ground.

“Commander Zhan!” the surrounding guards rushed over in alarm.

The burly man waved his hand dismissively, speaking in a firm tone, “I’m fine.”

Effortlessly, he hoisted the fallen horse upright. Spiritual Energy coursed into its limping legs, restoring them. The steady clatter of its hooves resumed.

“Kid, can’t you see this is the Lv Clan’s carriage?” one guard chastised.

“When a carriage approaches, standing in its way is a capital offense—don’t you know that?”

Before Xu Zimei could respond, Commander Zhan raised his hand to silence the guard.

“Are you alright, young man?” the burly man asked in a hearty voice.

Xu Zimei shook his head slightly.

“Good, then let’s go.” The burly man mounted his horse again, leading the way as the entourage and the flattened carriage turned down another road.

Watching the procession pass by, Xu Zimei murmured quietly to himself.

“The Lv Clan!”

By now, a crowd had gathered to gawk at the spectacle. Xu Zimei approached a bystander and asked, “Excuse me, is this Lv Clan related to the Lv Clan of Lv City?”

The man chuckled, “Of course they are. You must be an outsider, young man.

Lv City is only thirty miles from here. The Lv Clan in Lv City and the Wang Family here in the King’s City have always been rival clans.”

“If they’re rivals, why would they marry off their daughter to the Wang Family?” Xu Zimei glanced back at the bridal procession, puzzled.

“They were rivals, but now they’re planning an alliance through marriage,” the passerby explained with a laugh.

“The Lv Clan’s Immortal King vanished a year ago. Now the Wang Family’s Immortal Emperor stands uncontested.

The Lv Clan has lost several crucial battles and is on the brink of collapse. Without this marital alliance, they wouldn’t survive much longer.”

“Marriages of convenience—can a single marriage change the fate of an entire clan?” Xu Zimei shook his head.

“Ordinary women couldn’t, but the Lv Clan’s daughter is no ordinary woman,” the man said with a grin.

“What makes her different?” Xu Zimei asked, intrigued.

“The Lv Clan’s daughter, Lv Nanyi, was chosen as the Saintess of Qiankun Holy Land from birth.

It’s been prophesied that within a millennium, she will Become Emperor.

Imagine—if she becomes an Emperor and teams up with the Lv Clan’s Immortal King, wouldn’t the Wang Family’s Immortal Emperor finally meet his match?”

The man chuckled, “But alas, life is unpredictable. The Lv Clan’s Immortal King disappeared abruptly.

Without the power to oppose the Wang Family’s Immortal Emperor, the Lv Clan has no choice but to seek protection through marriage. Although Lv Nanyi shows great promise, her future greatness is still a long way off.

For now, the alliance is their lifeline.”

“I see. The Wang Family is betting on her future,” Xu Zimei nodded.

“Why are you so interested in this matter, young man?” the passerby asked, eyeing Xu Zimei curiously.

“Just curious, nothing more,” Xu Zimei waved it off.

Remembering that the bridal caravan was staying at Yueyang Inn, Xu Zimei asked for directions and began walking toward the inn.

………

As the largest inn in the King’s City, Yueyang Inn remained outside the Wang Family’s control.

After all, it was tied to Yueyang Tower, the base of a notorious assassin organization.
