Chapter 1289: Chapter 1288: The Heavenly Dragon Empire’s Backup Plan, Heading to the Empire
Xu Zimei’s gaze slightly glanced aside, the Tyrant Shadow in his hand directly cutting through, shattering every piece of Dragon Bone.
When he caught up again, he saw that behind the great hall, there were countless densely packed tunnels.
After shrinking, the Dragon King also disappeared into one of the passageways.
It seemed that the Dragon King was well prepared for this.
“Trying to escape?” Xu Zimei let out a light chuckle.
The Traceless above his head spun, ensuring that the opponent couldn’t escape unless they were too far away.
After a brief rotation, the Traceless pointed towards one of the tunnels, and Xu Zimei rushed in right after it.
The tunnel contained thousands of paths, incredibly complex.
Without the Traceless, never mind chasing the Dragon King, Xu Zimei might have gotten lost inside.
He moved through the intricacies without knowing how long he traveled or how many turns he took.

Finally, Xu Zimei saw the Light in the dark cave.
When he arrived at the location of the Light, he discovered it was actually a crystal mine.
Numerous already mined crystals were embedded within the walls, emitting a modest glow.
Upon reaching here, Xu Zimei halted.
“Come out, you can’t hide,” Xu Zimei said.
His voice wasn’t loud, but it echoed continuously in the bottomless mine shaft.
“How did you find me?” the Dragon King’s figure slowly emerged.
“If I want to, you can’t escape,” Xu Zimei replied.
“Spare me and I’ll give you whatever you want,” the Dragon King replied.
Even as he spoke, his figure retreated a few steps, always wary of the distance between himself and Xu Zimei.
“No roads for survival, but a path to death is available, will you take it?” Xu Zimei smiled.
The Monster Mirror in his palm slowly turned pages, strands of dragon energy began to gather anew.
“Kill,” this time, without waiting for Xu Zimei to act, the Dragon King attacked first, seeking the initiative.
“Futile struggle,” Xu Zimei shook his head in response.
He formed seals with his hands, and one of the ten Divine Methods, the Swastika, coalesced.
Like Hell of Swastika, all Evil Qi burst out, projecting directly into the void.
As the Dragon King’s figure rushed over, the Swastika exploded right before him.
Following a thunderous explosion, the Dragon King’s figure smashed into the nearby mountain wall, creating a bloody hole in his abdomen.
The surrounding crystal mine shattered, luminescence spilled into the void.
Xu Zimei stepped forward, the Dragon King spat blood, gritted his teeth, and said, “Kill me.”
“Don’t rush, I don’t plan on killing you,” Xu Zimei smiled.
He unfurled the Monster Mirror, strands of dragon energy spiraled out.
The Dragon King instinctively loathed this aura and wanted to retreat, yet there was nowhere to escape.
“What is this?” he asked.
Xu Zimei remained silent, and as the dragon energy gathered increasingly, the Dragon King’s entire body became enveloped.
The Monster Mirror unleashed a powerful suction, pulling him inside.
Xu Zimei looked up, seeing that the originally blank second page of the Monster Mirror now bore the image of the Ancestral Dragon.
Page two, complete!
Xu Zimei put away the Monster Mirror, heading deeper into the crystal mine.
This place should be the true lair of the Ancestral Dragon.
However, the Ancestral Dragon’s legacy was evidently a ruse, Xu Zimei found nothing but left behind a piece of Dragon Scale.
He took the Dragon Scale into his palm, and surprisingly, it embedded itself into his flesh.
In an instant, a layer of dragon-scaled armor appeared on the surface, like dragon-scale soft armor.
“Interesting,” Xu Zimei remarked as he put away the Dragon Scale.
Exiting the cave, due to the earlier battle commotion, half of the area had already collapsed.
The waters of Fan Sea surged from not far off, nearly submerging the entire grave.
Xu Zimei quickly emerged, arriving at the location in Shuyang County where he had previously entered the tomb.
He glanced around but saw no sign of Wu Zhaodi or Shuyang.
Xu Zimei frowned slightly and proceeded into Shuyang County.
As soon as he reached the city gate, a group of people surrounded him.
This group wore long blue-collared robes, each holding a similarly styled Longsword, exhibiting strict discipline.
“What does this mean?” Xu Zimei frowned and asked.
“Our lord would like to speak with you,” one of them said.
“Take me,” Xu Zimei replied.
He didn’t dispute with these people; unfamiliar as he was with the Catastrophe Demon Domain, he truly didn’t know who might seek him out.
The mastermind behind these people piqued his curiosity.
The blue-robed man led the way, and the group unexpectedly came to the Shu Mansion, entering the previous council hall.
Xu Zimei saw Shu Hai and an elderly man with graying hair, both sitting there chatting.
Shu Hai seemed to be in constant agreement with the other.
“Sir, I’ve brought him,” the blue-robed man reported.
The old man waved his hand and slowly stood up.
Accompanied by Shu Hai, he took steps to stand before Xu Zimei, first examining him.
“The people of Vast State?” the old man asked.
“Who might you be?” Xu Zimei countered.
“This is the Grand Tutor of the Heavenly Dragon Empire, Lord Ge Changyun,” Shu Hai quickly explained.
“Do we know each other?” Xu Zimei asked.
“No, but answer whatever Lord Ge asks of you,” Shu Hai signaled to Xu Zimei and said.
“I’m here representing the Heavenly Dragon Empire; think carefully before you answer,” Ge Changyun said.
“Your Heavenly Dragon Empire is truly crafty,” Xu Zimei laughed.
“Letting others fight to their death while you intended to reap the benefits without even entering the tomb.”
Upon hearing this, Shu Hai beside him also wiped the sweat from his forehead.
He had previously been puzzled why the Empire had no instructions or response about the Ancestral Dragon’s legacy in Shuyang County.
Unexpectedly, they were waiting to ambush like a mantis stalking a cicada.
“Empire’s affairs are not your concern,” Ge Changyun said.
“You only need to answer my question, where are the people of Vast State?”
“All dead,” Xu Zimei said.
“You killed them?” Ge Changyun sized up Xu Zimei once again.
“They were all killed by that old Dragon King,” Xu Zimei naturally wouldn’t admit it.
“So many entered the legacy, yet only you emerged alive,” Ge Changyun said.
“If you say you know nothing of the legacy, I won’t believe it.”
“What if I were to say, there was no legacy at all, do you believe it?” Xu Zimei replied.
“Tell me now, and I can let you leave safely,” Ge Changyun advised.
“If you go to the Empire, the consequences will be beyond what you can bear.”
“I actually wanted to visit the Heavenly Dragon Empire,” Xu Zimei smiled.
“I heard your Prime Minister is of the Demon Race.”
Seeing Xu Zimei unafraid, Ge Changyun furrowed his brow for a long time.
