I’m Really a Villain - Chapter 1223: First Encounter with Sage Lv
Xu Zimei stood up and glanced at the old man selling oranges.
Spiritual Energy gathered in his right palm as he slapped it heavily onto the old man’s head.
The old man was instantly killed, but his corpse transformed into a wisp of gas upon death.
The gas quickly condensed and reshaped into the likeness of the old man, who sat back at the orange stand with a smiling face.
The passersby around them, chatting and laughing, witnessed this scene but showed no reaction whatsoever.
“What’s going on?” Ji Jiuning asked in confusion.
“Keep walking ahead,” Xu Zimei paused to think before responding.
The two walked across the empty space in front of the city gate, arriving at the busiest pedestrian street.
The street appeared even more crowded, with bustling business in the taverns and inns lining both sides.
“Hey, a plate of chilled beef, Spring Noodles, and warm wine!”
“A plate of peanuts, stir-fried kidney slices!”
Inside the inn, voices rose and fell in succession.
Yet when Xu Zimei and Ji Jiuning entered, not a single staff member came to wait on them.
“We want to place an order,” Ji Jiuning shouted.
But no one paid attention to her.
Xu Zimei frowned slightly. Wielding his blade, the Blade Qi of Tyrant Shadow radiated thousands of miles outward.
With a loud “boom,” the entire tavern collapsed in an instant.
Everyone inside was annihilated, yet the pedestrians on the street outside remained oblivious.
In less than a second, the collapsed building stood once again, and the people crushed to death were resurrected.
“Hey, a plate of chilled beef, Spring Noodles, and warm wine!”
The lively sounds of conversation resumed in the tavern.
It was as if nothing had happened.
“What on earth is going on here?” Ji Jiuning was perplexed.
“Stop looking into it. This city operates under independent rules,” Xu Zimei said.
“Independent rules?” Ji Jiuning frowned slightly.
“It’s like it was pre-programmed, functioning autonomously. You get the idea?” Xu Zimei explained.
“Like a game, they’re just NPCs inside, each performing their predetermined roles.
They lack independent consciousness, which is why we can’t integrate into their world.”
“Then why does this city exist?” Ji Jiuning questioned further.
“What caused it to appear?”
“That, for now, remains unknown,” Xu Zimei shook his head.
“But in this world, everything has its reasons and consequences.”
He walked deeper into the city, past streets and buildings, observing everything along the way.
There was no difference between this place and an actual city.
Until Xu Zimei reached the deepest part, arriving before an ancient hall at the city’s end.
The hall was particularly dilapidated, with spiderwebs crisscrossing the doorframe.
Dust lazily settled everywhere, occasionally floating up in clouds when stirred by gusts of wind.
The hall lacked a door, but peering inside revealed only impenetrable darkness.
When Xu Zimei and Ji Jiuning stood before the hall, intending to enter, a low hum reverberated suddenly.
As if some forbidden power had been triggered, the entire city began to move.
The surrounding city walls rotated incessantly, while the ground beneath them felt as if the skies had flipped upside down. The sounds of crashing echoed continuously.
Everyone within the city seemed to be empowered by a mysterious force.
Beams of light descended from the heavens, encasing the entire city.
These beams fractured into endless strands, each wrapping power around the heads of the inhabitants.
The next instant, this power ascended skyward, surging like waterfalls, as the overwhelming Great Saint’s Might erupted from every person.
Each of these individuals was radiating the aura of Great Saints.
Great Saints!
An entire city of Great Saints—if this happened in the outside world, it would undoubtedly shock and terrify the masses.
Hundreds, even thousands of individuals, each exuding immense Holy Power that made it hard for anyone to even breathe.
Ji Jiuning’s face turned pale, feeling it nearly impossible to move even a step.
Xu Zimei’s expression became grave. An entire city of Great Saints—it was an absolute impossibility.
Yet it was happening right in front of him, without the faintest flaw.
Even Xu Zimei couldn’t detect any inconsistencies.
Everyone closed in on the two, attempting to trap Xu Zimei and Ji Jiuning in the center.
Xu Zimei glanced over at the hall’s location before pulling Ji Jiuning along, intending to rush inside.
But as soon as they moved a single step, the immense pressure from the countless Great Saints intensified, freezing them in place.
They couldn’t move, not even breathe.
“I’ll hold them off. You go inside and check,” Ji Jiuning suggested.
“Can you hold them off?” Xu Zimei asked in surprise.
“If they’re truly Great Saints, I naturally cannot.” Ji Jiuning replied.
“But I don’t believe they are all Great Saints, so I want to try.”
As she finished speaking, the North Fox behind her, previously white, began to turn blood-red.
The blood-red hue resembled fresh blood soaking through, as the Blood Fox descended, heralding calamity.
Ji Jiuning formed seals with both hands, and the Blood Fox howled towards the sky like a wolf.
“Full-Moon Fox, Disaster Fox descends.”
The Blood Fox roared before landing directly in front of Xu Zimei and Ji Jiuning, staring down those so-called Great Saints.
“Go inside,” Ji Jiuning urged.
Xu Zimei stepped forward, but the surrounding pressure from the Great Saints intensified further.
Every step he advanced, the pressure mounted. Xu Zimei could already hear the “pop and crack” of his body under strain.
Ji Jiuning raised her hand, and the Blood Fox surged ahead, directly blocking all the pressure.
The Blood Fox let out incessant cries as Xu Zimei felt the weight lifted from him. Seizing the moment, he dashed into the hall.
In the final moment before entering the hall, he thought he heard the Blood Fox’s agonizing scream.
However, Xu Zimei had no time to concern himself with the outside world. Once inside the hall, he was greeted by bone-chilling howls.
Something seemed to be crying out in a haunting and sinister manner.
Looking ahead, his vision landed on a dark scene—a long passageway.
Flickering torchlight illuminated the space dimly, painting the area in dark yellow hues. On the walls were numerous frescoes.
The eerie sounds seemed to emanate from within the passageway.
“White Emperor, how much longer do you intend to keep me imprisoned?”
“You shameless thief! Why don’t you speak? I know your avatar is here!”
“Release this saint immediately!”
As Xu Zimei gradually approached the passageway, the clamor abruptly ceased.
“Who? Who is it?”
“Someone from the outside,” Xu Zimei answered.
Speaking as he moved, he finally reached the end of the passageway.
As the scene became visible, it came into focus.
A man drenched in blood stood before him, his flesh torn and mangled.
The man’s hair hung messily, matted by blood, while his face bore countless scars, his eyes fixed on Xu Zimei with a searing glare.
“Another year in the Hunter’s Ground, huh?” the man sneered.
“Once you’ve entered, you’re never leaving.”
“Who are you?” Xu Zimei asked.
“Sage Lv!”
