Chapter 1488: Chapter 1488: Ascension in Broad Daylight

“Congratulations to the Family Head for mastering our Cook family’s ultimate skill, the Lightning Sword!”

“When the time comes, within this Swimming City, no one will be a match for our Cook family!”

“Once we obtain the legacy from the Azure Emperor’s ancient burial grounds and annex the Young family, Swimming City will easily fall into our hands!”

“Having endured suppression for nearly a thousand years, this grudge should have been resolved ages ago! Relying merely on their ancestors’ blessings — in terms of skill, what right does the Young family have to stand above our Cook family?”

The Cook family.

Outside the doors of Mat Hall.

Hundreds of clan members were gathered, standing respectfully at the entrance.

An elder with black hair slowly stepped forward, holding a longsword.

The elder was none other than the Family Head of the Cook clan.

Gino Cook!

“For this old man to master this sword art, it is entirely thanks to the blessings of our ancestors! After a thousand years, our Cook family is finally poised to fulfill its grand ambitions!”

With these words spoken.

Gino Cook turned around and knelt at the entrance to Mat Hall.

Clang!

He drove the sword into the ground at his feet.

The blade emitted a faint crackling of lightning.

“I, Gino Cook, thirty-seventh descendant of the Cook family!”

Kneeling on the ground, Gino Cook spoke reverently, “I beseech the ancestors for their blessings, that this Cook family’s battle may seal our victory and put an end to the thousand-year balance of two kings and four ministers!”

“Please bless us, ancestors!”

The entire Cook family knelt.

Voices filled with devotion, their eyes gleamed with fervent excitement.

“May the ancestors bless us! As for myself, Gino Cook, I am willing to sacrifice everything for the unparalleled honor of our family!” He stood, gently brushing the dust from his clothes.

Though over a hundred years old, he showed little sign of frailty.

His black hair, paired with his dark cloth attire, made him appear unfathomably deep and enigmatic!

“This ‘Silver Moon Sword’ truly is a divine weapon! My mastery of the ‘Lightning Tennyson Method’ would not have been possible without its assistance,” he murmured. Holding the shimmering silver blade in hand, Gino Cook’s eyes radiated anticipation.

He had secluded himself for ten years!

The day of his emergence would undoubtedly shake the heavens!

“Where is my younger brother, Flynn Cook?” Gino surveyed the gathered crowd but saw no sign of Flynn.

“Brother, Flynn, he…” Kenzo Cook approached him hesitantly, a troubled expression on his face.

During Gino Cook’s ten years of seclusion, Flynn and Kenzo had jointly overseen the Cook family’s affairs.

Although secluded, whenever urgent matters arose, the two would report outside the doors of Mat Hall, their voices carrying into the chamber.

It had been some time since Gino had heard Flynn’s voice; recently, it had always been Kenzo bringing the updates.

“Speak!” The Family Head felt a growing sense of unease.

“Second Brother was killed by the Young family!” Kenzo gritted his teeth as he delivered the news.

“What! The Young family dares this outrage!”

Boom!

Gino Cook swung his sword furiously!

At the entrance to Mat Hall, a stone lion statue shattered into dust!

“Why don’t I see Commander Haw and Micah Will’s people?” He restrained his inner fury and voiced his inquiry.

During his time in seclusion, Gino had been well aware of the family’s plans.

To ally with Micah Will and Adler Haw, enter the Azure Emperor’s ancient burial grounds, and subsequently annihilate the Young family!

Such powerful allies could cut their efforts in half.

Yet.

Today.

The moment of his grand emergence — why had no one come to celebrate?

“This…” Kenzo hesitated once again.

“Speak!” Gino’s unease deepened.

“Micah Will… nearly entirely wiped out, with no trace to be found. Likewise, Commander Haw is dead,” Kenzo replied helplessly, wondering why everyone associated with the Cook family seemed doomed to calamity.

“What in the world happened!” Gino was stunned.

“I do not know…” Kenzo had nowhere to seek answers.

Micah Will and his faction had vanished overnight; their Swimming City outpost was littered with corpses.

Though Kenzo was aware of their internal strife, those dispatched to retrieve Jace Will—Micah’s successor—were all slaughtered.

Soon after, Jace Will also vanished.

As for Adler Haw.

Blown to pieces by artillery.

The North Sea’s doing!

Yet no one understood why Adler had chosen to stay stationary on a high platform, deliberately enduring bombardment.

Was it a death wish?

“I care not for other events! To kill my brother Flynn Cook — the Young family courts its own destruction!” Gino grasped the Silver Moon Sword tightly, his gaze icy as he turned to Kenzo: “Do you know who carried out the deed?”

“It was…”

Kenzo barely opened his mouth before Gino interrupted him.

“Whoever dared to kill my brother, they shall end in death!” Gino raised the Silver Moon Sword high, his tone brimming with malice: “Today, I’ll march into the Young family’s halls — I want to see who in this land dares stop me!”

“Brother’s might is unparalleled!” Kenzo, while tempted to mention that the culprit was the Lord of the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance — a man who had just defeated the divine entities of the West Sea and the demonic sages of the East Sea — decided it wasn’t worth worrying.

After all, the matchless power of their ancestral “Lightning Tennyson Method” assured him otherwise.

“So, you’re looking for me?”

Suddenly.

A voice echoed from the rooftop of Mat Hall.

“Who’s there!” Gino’s heart skipped a beat!

How had this person slipped past his senses?

Not only Gino but the gathered Cook family members were taken aback.

On the roof of Mat Hall!

A white-clad youth stood, holding a pitch-black longsword, his back turned to everyone.

“Do you know this is the Cook family?” Gino held his sword tightly, his presence exuding murderous intent!

Good timing — such a brazen intrusion would make this youth’s head a fitting offering to inaugurate his victory!

“The Cook family? I wouldn’t know.” Julius Reed spoke leisurely, “As long as it’s under my feet, it’s my territory.”

What makes a sovereign over all beneath the heavens?

Perhaps, simply this.

“Uh…” Gino had anticipated various responses, but not this.

If the boy acknowledged he knew, he’d interrogate him on his audacity to challenge the Cook family.

If he claimed ignorance, Gino would respond, “I’ll let my sword teach you.”

But now…

“Who are you!” Gino resolved to start by cutting out this impertinent youth’s tongue before killing him slowly.

“Of what use is it for a dying man to know so much?” Julius Reed turned to face them, his Dragon King Ring flashing brightly.

“Such a young age, yet your tone is exceedingly arrogant!” Gino’s wrist tightened, the Silver Moon Sword emitting faint streaks of lightning!

This was the inheritance of a thousand years!

The ‘Lightning Tennyson Method’!

Legends spoke of its masters summoning lightning with their strikes!

And it was this sword art that formed the backbone of Gino Cook’s confidence.

“Boy, take a good look at the sword in my hand!” Gino smirked coldly, speaking with pride: “When you’re sent to hell, you’ll have my name to report!”

“Rubbish.” Julius glanced at the sword dismissively: “Trash.”

“You…” Gino’s anger turned into mirth: “Good! Good! Very good! Then let me show you just how powerful this supposed ‘trash’ is!”

Whoosh!

Before his words had finished, Gino Cook sprang into the air!

Electricity crackled faintly around his body!

Swish!

At the same time!

Julius Reed darted out like the wind!

Clang!

In midair!

The two collided!

The Silver Moon Sword in Gino Cook’s hand showed faint cracks!

“This…” His heart sank, though he tried to remain composed!

“Witness my Lightning Sword Method!”

Gino leveraged momentum to land atop Mat Hall’s roof, the Silver Moon Sword releasing beams of lightning!

“The Family Head’s mastery of the Lightning Sword is unparalleled!” Below, the Cook family cheered in unison.

“Huff!”

On the other side.

Julius Reed closed his eyes and took a deep breath, reopening them to reveal blood-red irises!

Evil Qi surged violently!

Above him, high-voltage power lines hummed!

Swish!

Gino Cook transformed into a streak of lightning, charging directly at Julius Reed!

Electric arcs even danced in the air!

“Fond of playing with electricity? I’ll let you have your fill!”

Clang!

The Hell Sword collided with the Silver Moon Sword; the two figures were instantly engulfed in a black haze of Evil Qi!

Julius Reed extended his right hand, gripping Gino’s neck and hurling him violently onto the high-voltage wires above!

Crackle!

Gino was ensnared by the wires, while Evil Qi coursed through his body. Exhausted and powerless, sparks erupted all over him!

“Look, the Family Head has ascended to the heavens in broad daylight! That brat is doomed!”

Below, the Cook family shouted enthusiastically.
