Chapter 1492: Chapter 1492: Treasure Hunting

Hiddy certainly has money.

In this world, perhaps only Hidden Dragon has more money than Hiddy.

That is none other than Julius Reed, the reclusive Dragon King and ruler of the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance.

The mountain path was rugged, and Jacob Weatherby had many thoughts racing through his mind.

Would this woman plan to kill him and abandon his corpse in the wilderness?

He was terrified of dying, although the chances of being murdered were extremely low.

But what reason would she have to kill him?

For money?

The other party seemed to be wealthier than him.

For lust?

Jacob Weatherby was self-aware.

He was a ridiculous figure; how could she possibly find him attractive?

After thinking it through, he set aside his worries and cautiously followed behind Hiddy.

But this phoenix was truly exquisite!

Although it was red, if one stared closely, they would find the phoenix seamlessly blending with her cloak.

Jacob Weatherby rubbed his eyes, but he still couldn’t see clearly.

Only during fleeting glances could he make out an outline.

“The more you know, the quicker you die.” Hiddy walked ahead, speaking coldly, “In my eyes, human life is the least valuable commodity.”

“Understood!”

Jacob Weatherby wiped the sweat off his forehead, walking as if on thin ice.

Danger!

This woman was extremely dangerous!

Halfway along the path, Hiddy once again took out her compass.

The needle kept spinning, its movement gradually slowing down.

At last, it stopped.

Hiddy put away the compass and continued walking forward.

Whenever they encountered weeds blocking the path, Hiddy would draw her sword.

Intense flames blazed forth, burning a clear passage.

Jacob Weatherby trembled in fear, anxious that the flames might carelessly touch him, thus ruining his chance to acquire a nineteenth concubine.

After a short while.

The two stood at the edge of a cliff.

Before them stretched a boundless ocean!

The view was infinite!

Howling sea winds blew!

Waves relentlessly crashed against the rocks, sending out echoing sounds.

The air was thick with the scent of salty seawater.

“M-Ma’am… There’s no road ahead! If we continue, our bones will be shattered beyond recognition.” Jacob Weatherby felt his legs give way.

He was afraid of heights!

Even when choosing concubines, he refused to consider those taller than six feet.

Hiddy didn’t respond but once again took out her compass.

The needle spun faster and faster!

In the end, it moved too fast to discern its direction.

“Such poor skill, you’re truly a disgrace to Micah Will. Thankfully, Graham Will isn’t as useless as you are.” Hiddy showed a hint of irritation.

She put away the compass and leaped forward!

Splash!

Jacob Weatherby plopped down on the rock, his legs instantly cramping.

Dead?

Had the woman jumped into the sea to end her life?

This was terrifying!

His mind went blank!

He thought about approaching the edge to look, but even gazing at the ocean from afar made him dizzy, let alone actually peering over the cliff.

“I’ll wait… Hopefully, she’s okay.” Jacob Weatherby lay on the ground, panting heavily.

Weak kidneys had left him with poor physical stamina.

But it was understandable.

At seventy years old, with eighteen concubines, anyone would be exhausted.

Below the cliff!

Hiddy was suspended in mid-air.

Her sword was buried deep into the rocky facade, with only the hilt exposed.

Her fingers pressed against the cliff face, measuring continuously.

Finally!

Crack!

Hiddy’s right hand sliced into the rock like a blade, grabbing firmly!

A gear-shaped weapon emerged in her hand.

“Hopelessly unskilled! I had thought this would take more time, but evidently, Micah was utterly useless.” Hiddy swiftly retrieved her longsword, sprang off the cliff face, and ascended rapidly!

When she appeared again, twenty minutes had passed.

The Nine Heavens Thorn artifact had been embedded with a special metal by Hiddy.

With the help of her compass, she could precisely locate its hiding spot.

Recognizing that it had been concealed in Harris Mountain was thanks to the Will Family’s feng shui studies.

Based on Swimming City’s geography, Hiddy had deduced this optimal location.

However, it was regrettable that if the Nine Heavens Thorn had been hidden thirty meters deeper, it would have been nearly impossible to find.

At thirty meters lay a dense mineral layer.

The mineral would interfere with the compass, rendering Hiddy’s tool useless.

Ultimately, Micah’s skills were lacking.

“You… You’re back?”

Jacob Weatherby quickly stood up, nervously smiling, “Is this the thing?”

“Yes, it’s incredibly sharp. You should store it in a velvet box and ensure no one sees it. During this time, I’ll follow you closely. If it’s successfully delivered to the Young Family, I’ll leave. Otherwise, I don’t mind exterminating your entire household.”

Hiddy had lived countless lifetimes.

In her eyes, life was the most insignificant thing.

Utterly trivial.

Having witnessed the life and death of countless people, Hiddy held little regard for the concept of living.

Was there really any distinction between life and death?

“Understood! Understood!” Jacob Weatherby carefully asked, “Will you return to the Young Family with me or…”?

“I’ll be watching you in the shadows.” Hiddy said before vanishing on the spot.

Leaving only the Nine Heavens Thorn behind.

“I’ll get right to it!” Jacob Weatherby’s hands were trembling.

This concerned the survival of his entire family!

He couldn’t afford to be careless!

Hiddy.

Was already gone.

She was one of those rare individuals Ishmael Will had said must not appear unless absolutely necessary.

But now!

Hiddy knew her appearance was crucial!

The Dragon needed her.

“Goodbye, who knows in what year or what month we’ll meet again.” Hiddy sat under a tree, gazing at the horizon where the sunset lingered, her eyes slightly moist.

At the Young Family.

The night was far from serene.

Inside the crystal dining hall, three people dined by candlelight.

The atmosphere seemed warm and harmonious, but danger was everywhere!

The bowl in front of Julius Reed was stacked high with food.

Nelson and Gabriel Young were competing to serve him dishes.

What an enviable dilemma.

He could only silently recite a poem in his heart.

“The Master between two ladies, eating, yet troubled.”

“Julius, you love this dish the most. Remember the last time at the hotel, you ate an entire plate of kidneys?” Nelson placed a piping hot dish of sautéed kidneys into Julius’s bowl.

Julius, hearing this, recalled the terror of being overwhelmed!

Nelson subtly glanced at Gabriel Young and teased, “You’re too rough with me, but I understand—it’s the thrill of rediscovery! After all, besides me, it seems no other woman exists in your eyes.”

She was cunning.

She used the word “seems.”

That “seems” encompassed even Quella Radcliffe.

Nelson never referred to Julius as “husband” or “darling,” phrases that might induce his guilt.

She preferred calling him “Julius.”

As the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance’s ruler, no one dared address him this way.

But Nelson could.

Uniquely.

Moreover, she never demanded explanations about Julius’s personal matters, titles, or companionship; Nelson remained silent on these topics.

Whenever Julius had time, she cherished every moment.

When he didn’t, she became like a ghost.

This kind of woman, one who never burdened men, was the most clever of all.

Gabriel Young didn’t know what to say.

She had rushed out like a madwoman, only to hear sounds that utterly humiliated her.

As the mistress of the Young Family, she could only hide behind a wall, listening, heartbroken.

Once their passion subsided, she wiped her tears and stepped out.

“Which ancient emperor didn’t have three wives and four concubines? Not to mention the ruler of the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance.”

Gabriel Young shoved a plate of food toward Julius Reed and declared, in no uncertain terms, “This is the first time I’ve ever cooked. If you don’t eat, you’re heartless! And keep in mind, I’m a virtuous woman—you can’t take advantage of me for nothing!”

Saying this, she glanced provocatively at Nelson.

Julius Reed felt utterly exasperated.

This wasn’t dinner.

This was a knife fight!

“Report! Jacob Weatherby, Family Head of the Weatherby household, has arrived personally to deliver a gift!”

Just as Julius Reed was contemplating how to escape his predicament, a Young Family servant ran in to make the announcement.

“Weatherby Family?” Julius Reed stood up and waved his hand, “Let’s go see!”

And with that, he fled the scene!
