Chapter 1494: Chapter 1494: Conspiracy

Julius Reed swiftly dodged!

Thud!

The blade, propelled by momentum, sliced through the triple-layer, tempered glass of the Young Family’s window and fell into the courtyard.

Julius Reed approached the window and noticed that the glass showed no signs of cracks!

Only by closer inspection could one see an almost invisible incision.

Smooth and precise, without any splintering along the edges.

And three layers of tempered glass!

The blade had pierced through purely by inertia!

Thinking back, if Baylor Davenport had employed this weapon, Solaris Grove might not have suffered so much.

Julius Reed took a deep breath and once again retrieved the item remotely!

Whoosh!

The blade streaked through the air!

He quickly stepped back and grabbed the Nine Heavens Thorn!

Clang!

The blade returned to its housing.

Yet on the window, there remained no visible damage.

Thin!

Incredibly thin!

Micah Will’s weapon turned out to be secret projectiles.

Realizing this, Julius Reed delicately spun the Nine Heavens Thorn.

Click!

When the characters “Sun” and “Moon” exceeded an angle of 45 degrees, the Nine Heavens Thorn transformed like a windmill, revealing nine razor-sharp miniature blades between its two gears!

These blades were slim yet impossibly rigid.

Holding his breath, Julius Reed traced through the air with his right hand!

Shh! Shh! Shh!

The nine blades fell to the ground, directly piercing the tough marble floor and vanishing from sight.

Poof!

Holding the Nine Heavens Thorn, he pushed open the door and leapt forward!

With his right hand, he made a remote grab!

The nine blades sliced through the heavy iron door and returned to the Nine Heavens Thorn!

Between the two gears seemed to exist a unique magnetic force.

The suction exerted on each blade varied in intensity.

Every time a blade returned, it did so with pinpoint precision to its rightful position.

Each blade was numbered, one through nine.

Despite the ancient script, Julius Reed recognized them.

Moreover, though the nine blades appeared identical at first glance, upon closer observation, they showed slight differences in length.

Julius Reed carefully removed one, walked to the mirror, and shaved his face.

“Eyes like the sun and moon, brows like the stars, none in the mortal world are like me,” he sighed, placing the blade gently back into the device after a simple shave.

This was a secret projectile!

If the nine blades were covertly concealed behind an opponent in advance—

They could kill without a trace!

Julius Reed approached the door and locked it securely.

“That damned Nelson…”

He pondered for a moment before deciding to call Karen and inquire about the last prescription.

…

Night.

Hardly peaceful.

Since Hagan Marsh was rescued, Swimming City’s streets had been swarming with forbidden troops searching for him.

The other six factions also dispatched their people, eager to capture Hagan Marsh!

But Hagan Marsh seemed to have vanished into thin air, leaving no trace.

“Mr. Leopold, where do you think Hagan Marsh could have gone?”

In Sleepless City.

Hakeem Ridge, leader of the Middle Three Road factions, sat drunkenly at a wine table, staring at the middle-aged man across from him.

One of the Five Roads leaders, Colton Leopold.

Among the Middle Three Road factions, the two shared the closest bond and often drank together.

“Who cares where he went? He’s a stray dog—he won’t stir up much trouble.” Colton Leopold sneered with disdain, raising his voice: “Adler Haw died horribly, and the Three Road assets were split between the First and Second Roads. We brothers didn’t even get scraps from the pot. That’s despicable!”

With that, he gulped down a cup of liquor, his eyes smoldering with resentment: “The City Lord is useless!”

“Mr. Leopold, we can’t quite say that. Each of our Nine Roads manages its own assets, and we’ve always stayed out of each other’s way. The City Lord’s role has been mediation. Now, with two dead and one missing, the situation has suddenly devolved into chaos, something the City Lord clearly didn’t foresee. That’s somewhat understandable,” Hakeem Ridge said with a thin veneer of diplomacy, though his heart was filled with venom.

“Understandable? You’re the last person that would find this comforting, aren’t you?” Colton Leopold let out a cold laugh, clapping his hand furiously.

“Gentlemen, is there no space for me at this drinking table?”

A towering man entered from outside the door.

“Mr. Cook?” Hakeem Ridge turned to Colton Leopold in surprise: “Why is Silas Cook here?”

Silas Cook, leader of the Fourth Road.

That meant the Middle Three Road leaders were now fully assembled.

Yet Silas Cook typically sided with Adler Haw and had little connection to the other two, hardly making for amicable company.

Now, Colton Leopold had brought him here without prior consent, leaving Hakeem Ridge displeased.

“Haha, Mr. Lake, I admit I invited Silas Cook without your permission simply because the matter is urgent,” Colton Leopold exclaimed drunkenly, loudly raising his glass: “I’ll down this drink as self-punishment first before introducing tonight’s most significant guest!”

With that, he drained another glass of white wine.

“Someone else?” Hakeem Ridge frowned in dissatisfaction.

Sleepless City, a high-end establishment in Swimming City, was effectively under Hakeem Ridge’s control.

In terms of status, he was practically its master.

But now, having invited Colton Leopold for drinks, his companion had taken the liberty to bring not one, but two guests?

“From the City Lord’s Mansion—the Think Tank! Prince Bradley!” Colton Leopold’s words barely landed when two figures entered from outside the door.

The lead figure wore a black hood, and the one following had a mask.

“Well, well, from the City Lord’s Mansion, huh?” Hakeem Ridge retrieved a hidden projectile box from his waist, prompting the guards outside the door to raise their weapons as well.

Pointing them at the two figures!

“What business does the City Lord’s Mansion have here?”

His dissatisfaction with the City Lord’s Mansion had reached its peak—within the Six Roads leadership, only the First and Second Roads had been silent in their actions after Adler Haw’s demise.

The Middle Three Road factions and the City Lord’s Mansion were practically at each other’s throats!

While Hakeem Ridge refrained from speaking openly, he had already begun plotting rebellion.

Now, the Think Tank himself arrived—what was the meaning behind this?

“Brother Ridge, you’re overthinking this.” Colton Leopold calmly poured Hakeem Ridge a drink, showing no unease: “Prince Bradley shares our grievance with the City Lord. Tonight, he’s here to strategize with us on how to dethrone the City Lord.”

Those words caused Hakeem Ridge and Silas Cook’s faces to change drastically!

“Mr. Leopold, this is a matter bound to cost heads!” Silas Cook’s face turned pale as he leaned toward Colton Leopold: “When you invited me, you mentioned urgent business—you didn’t say anything about rebellion!”

“You weren’t informed?” Hakeem Ridge was stunned too.

Apparently, both of them had been kept in the dark.

“How would I know? If I had known, I wouldn’t be here!” Silas Cook regretted his decision immensely.

This was a capital offense.

On their own, the three of them stood little chance against the City Lord’s Mansion’s forbidden forces.

Unless, of course, the First and Second Roads joined in.

“Well, since you’re here, let’s ease up for a moment.” Colton Leopold leisurely raised his cup and chuckled: “Come, let’s drink to celebrating the overthrow of the City Lord’s tyranny.”

Hakeem Ridge and Silas Cook exchanged a helpless glance.

They were trapped on this pirate ship!

“Prince Bradley possesses a map of the City Lord’s Mansion. With the detailed placement of forbidden troops outlined in the map, we can stealthily bypass them and head straight to the City Lord’s chamber to kill him!” Colton Leopold gestured with a throat-slitting motion.

“A map?” The two were flabbergasted.

“Exactly. Prince Bradley aspires to seize the City Lord’s position, which aligns perfectly with our goals. This map identifies the Mansion’s weakest points.” Colton Leopold turned toward Devlin: “Sir, may we see it?”

Seize the City Lord’s position?

Pure delusion.

As soon as he had the map, Colton Leopold planned to rally the other two and launch an immediate rebellion!

As for the Think Tank?

Shooting him down with a hidden projectile wouldn’t be too much, would it?

Colton Leopold rested his hand on his waist, ready to strike at any moment.

Devlin, meanwhile, slipped his gloved hand into his cloak.
