Chapter 1511: Chapter 1511 Misunderstanding

Will I die…

The younger princess lay on the ground and blinked.

She hadn’t yet accomplished what she wanted to do.

But dying… could be a form of release too.

She closed her eyes and smiled.

Either way, the wretched man who killed her could be considered her savior.

At least he didn’t let her die in humiliation.

But half a minute passed.

She realized she was still alive.

Opening her eyes, she discovered the wretched man squatting before her, scrutinizing her intently.

“Not bad.” Julius Reed reached out with his right hand and gently touched the wound on her neck.

“If I had been ten minutes later, you’d have been beyond saving.”

With that, he retrieved a tiny medicine bottle from his pocket, uncorked it, and sprinkled some powder over her wound.

The wound on her neck oozed dark blood.

In her blood—there was poison.

“You’re saving me?” The younger princess felt strength returning to her body bit by bit.

She wasn’t foolish; the reason was apparent to her.

“Yes, I’m saving you.” Julius Reed stood up and tossed the bottle onto the ground. “Sprinkle more in another three hours, and you’ll have nothing to worry about.”

“Why?” The younger princess shouted, “Why are you saving me?!”

She couldn’t comprehend any reason why he would rescue her.

“Why shouldn’t I save you?” Julius Reed countered with a question.

This question left the younger princess stunned.

Yes, why shouldn’t he save her?

“I’m someone of the royal lineage.” She stared firmly at Julius Reed and declared, “I’m going to kill you!”

“And you call that a reason?” Julius Reed shook his head. “Doesn’t stand.”

“Why doesn’t it stand?” As her strength returned, the younger princess sat up and leaned against the wall. “I want to kill you, yet you saved me. Doesn’t that conflict?”

“You misunderstand.” Julius Reed’s tone was laced with disdain. “And you alone? You’re not capable of that.”

“Are you mocking me?” The younger princess glared in fury.

She was the High Steward of the royal lineage—how dare someone insult her like this?

“If you insist on interpreting it that way, then I guess, yes.” Julius Reed nodded, not bothering to refute her.

“You…” Remembering how this wretched man had effortlessly dispatched the Ghost Martial Tribe warrior earlier, the younger princess had no choice but to admit the truth.

She truly wasn’t his match.

She couldn’t win.

“For your life, she called me for the first time in four years.” Julius Reed spoke suddenly, his tone tinged with melancholy. “Four years—it’s a long time. For me, even four thousand years wouldn’t matter. But those four years… they were the longest I’ve ever known.”

“She reached out to you?” The younger princess froze in shock.

In the past four years, even if Grace River had constantly thought about this wretched man, she had never contacted him.

The timing wasn’t right.

But now…

“Yes, she begged me to save you.” With his hands clasped behind his back, Julius Reed looked down at the younger princess. “Otherwise, how would I have known you were here? Besides the royal lineage, no one else could’ve known your exact location, right?”

Only now did the younger princess understand how Julius Reed had found her.

Like Elwood Thorneycroft, she also had a chip implanted in her body.

Originally, she’d opposed it, but under Grace River’s pressure, she’d had to comply.

Unexpectedly, in a moment of crisis, it had saved her life.

It seemed Elwood must’ve informed Grace, prompting the decision to contact this wretched man.

“With a master like that, you are lucky.” Julius Reed walked away slowly, his figure disappearing into the darkness.

“Remember—she paid a heavy price to save you. Live well. Don’t waste Grace River’s effort.”

“I… I will…” The younger princess lowered her head as tears streamed uncontrollably down her face.

…

In the dead of night.

Julius Reed returned to the Young Family manor, feeling weary.

If not for Grace River’s call, he would’ve been fast asleep by now.

Julius Reed used to dislike sleeping, but he’d recently grown fond of it.

In his dreams, he could see that headless figure.

And as time went on, every dream seemed to bring him closer to uncovering the truth.

As for Lillian Tompson, Julius Reed intended to let her roam free.

He wanted to figure out what exactly the Ghost Martial Tribe was plotting.

Or rather, what was Lillian’s intention in staying near him all this time?

The truth would emerge eventually.

As he scaled the wall and landed in the courtyard—

“Where did you go?”

Gabriel Young and Nelson stood at the door, blocking his way.

“Took a little trip.”

Julius Reed frowned slightly.

“Why aren’t you two sleeping? What are you doing here?”

What surprised him was that the two weren’t squabbling.

On the contrary—they almost seemed to be getting along.

“You smell like her perfume.” Nelson leaned in and sniffed, then said with a tinge of disappointment, “Curse my own sense of smell.”

“You shouldn’t have been charmed by her beauty.” Gabriel Young glanced at Nelson with slight resentment. “She makes all of us feel inferior.”

Julius Reed looked utterly baffled.

These two were actually getting along?

“I promised Quella I’d keep an eye on you. No allowing you to get involved with other women!” Nelson, despite his hypocritical self-interest, spoke with righteousness.

Women are creatures of jealousy. This couldn’t be truer.

“She’s just a friend. It’s not what you think.” Julius Reed felt a headache coming on.

Thud!

“Open the door!”

Suddenly, someone knocked on the front gate with great force.

“It’s late, and with martial artists guarding the street, who would dare disturb us?” Gabriel Young frowned and pondered deeply.

“Anyone who could bypass six layers of defense must be highly skilled! Everyone, be cautious!” She walked over and slowly opened the steel gate after speaking.

The gate of the Young Family was solid steel—thick enough to withstand artillery.

The moment it opened, a young man holding a paper fan strode in.

Four attendants followed closely behind him.

“Aunt Young, greetings!” The young man greeted her with a smile.

“So it’s Young Master Caldwell.” Gabriel Young immediately understood.

The Caldwells of Boulevard Mountain weren’t people the guards would dare to stop.

Sure enough, more martial artists trailed behind him.

But why would someone from the Caldwell Family suddenly visit Swimming City?

Was it about Merrill Caldwell?

Most likely.

“Has my sister gone to bed yet?”

The young master glanced around casually before his gaze locked on Julius Reed in shock. “You, you, you… why are you here?”

Earlier today, this Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance master had effortlessly defeated both the East Sea sorcerer and the West Sea deity!

A monster!

And now they’d crossed paths again?

“Why shouldn’t I be here? Your sister’s here too!” Julius Reed figured this kid might be missing some brain cells.

He was, after all, the nominal head of this household.

The words “your sister” made the young master’s temper flare up!

But he had no way of venting his anger.

“Fine! Aunt Young, I’ll cut to the chase!” He took a deep breath and said, “The Caldwell Family received intelligence that someone’s been bullying my sister. Tonight, I came here because of that. No one from Boulevard Caldwell can be bullied anywhere!”

“Bullying?” Gabriel Young thought it over and shook her head. “No one’s bullied Merrill; she’s fine!”

“Impossible. Caldwell spies never make mistakes!” The young master pulled out his phone and dialed a number. “I’m at the Young Family estate. Who did you see bullying Miss Caldwell that day?”

“Who? A man named Julius—”

“Is your signal bad? Maybe those high-voltage lines are causing interference.” Julius Reed unsheathed his sword and swung it forcefully forward!

Boom!

A one-meter-thick concrete pillar thirty meters away exploded into rubble!

The young master stared blankly at the wreckage, his throat tightening.

“Young Master? Young Master? Can you hear me? The one who bullied Miss Caldwell is named Julius—”

The young master ended the call.

Swallowing hard.

“Who bullied your sister?” Julius Reed sheathed his sword and asked, “Was it me?”

“How could it be!” The young master’s face twitched as he forced a smile. “The intelligence must’ve been wrong… fake.”

“Good then. I’m heading back to bed.” Julius Reed glanced at him meaningfully before turning away.

Once Julius Reed’s silhouette faded, the young master used his sleeve to wipe the sweat off his forehead.

This monster was even stronger than the power he had shown earlier in the day!
