“Not bad, at last some progress,”
“Not only has the acting become more and more convincing, but the schemes are finally taking shape,” commented the white-haired elder.
The leading black-clothed cultivator became anxious, “Senior, you have truly misunderstood!”
He quickly ordered his companions to release the array technique that bound the white-haired elder, “Senior, you now regain your freedom, so this can’t still be an act, right?”
The white-haired elder’s eyes narrowed slightly, “I personally crafted the Dark Prison years ago. If I truly wished to leave, how could it really hold me?”
“You can’t even understand this much…”
The white-haired elder’s gaze became even more distrustful.
“I told you they are all liars. Senior, you might as well come with me. As a lone individual, even if I had ulterior motives, I would be no match for you,” Li Fan said with a smile, having observed the situation.
However, although he said this, he had no intention of approaching to escort the white-haired elder over.
“You, this kid…” The white-haired elder was somewhat unable to read the young man before him.
The operation that had been going exceptionally smoothly came to a standstill in a way no one had anticipated.
With every passing second, there was a possibility of being discovered by the Alliance of Thousands of Immortals.
The leading cultivator felt helpless and became increasingly anxious.
He bit his lip, already thinking about trying to overpower the white-haired elder to capture him and forcibly take him back.
Just then, a clear sigh rang out above everyone’s heads.
“Elder Wei, you are still so presumptuous,”
At the sound of the voice, the faces of the black-clothed cultivators lit up with joy, “Senior Zhou!”
And the white-haired elder, who was the Dharma Transmitter Wei, his aura suddenly changed.
His originally cloudy eyes burst into an intense light, staring straight upwards.
A woman dressed in plain white clothes with a lovely face appeared quietly at some point.
Dharma Transmitter Wei examined her closely, slightly startled, “It really is you…”
He looked at the group of black-clothed cultivators before him; his expression turned peculiar, “So, what these kids said was true?”
Dharma Transmitter Zhou sighed again.
“Thinking too much of conspiracies; seeing everything as false.”
“A lot has happened in the Alliance of Thousands of Immortals recently. I suspect that the Dharma Transmitter Council has become corrupted, so I wanted to invite you out.”
“But if I had done it myself, I would surely have to see that smug expression on your face. That’s why I sent these kids instead.”
“Unexpectedly…”
The tone of Dharma Transmitter Zhou was a bit strange, weary and listless.
Upon hearing this, the white-haired elder’s expression froze for a moment.
But soon, he burst into hearty laughter, diffusing the awkwardness.
To divert attention, he immediately locked his gaze on Li Fan.
“Since you are real, then what’s the deal with this kid?”
Li Fan remained calm and collected, cupping his hands, “I’ve seen both seniors.”
“This farce was just to meet with you all.”
Wei and Zhou exchanged glances, both showing an amused look on their faces.
“People from the Alliance of Thousands of Immortals will be here soon. Let’s change locations.”
Law Transmitter Zhou drew a line in the air with her delicate hand, opening a space tunnel and leading the black-clothed cultivators into it.
The white-haired elder turned to glance at Li Fan, “Kid, do you have the courage to follow us in?”
Li Fan pondered for a moment, followed into the Small World.
“Eh? This place…”
When Li Fan clearly saw the surrounding scenery, he almost thought he had fallen into some sort of illusion again.
The architectural style of this Small World was extremely similar to the world Li Fan lived in before he crossed over.
High-rise buildings stood tall and proud.
In the pitch-black night sky, a fine misty rain was falling.
The neon lights on the exteriors of the buildings made the cityscape beneath the night sky strange and fantastical.
This somewhat long-lost yet very familiar scene made Li Fan pause for a moment.
Not just him.
The Dharma Transmitter Wei was also not quite used to it.
“What do you think, pretty nice, huh? I went to the Worry-Free Paradise for a vacation and thought this scenery was quite good. So I copied it over.”
The voice of Law Transmitter Zhou slowly came through.
Li Fan looked toward the voice, only to see that she had changed her clothes.
A neat white shirt and tight-fitting trousers.
She even wore a pair of black-framed glasses on her face.
She didn’t look like any Dharma Transmitter, but more like a city beauty.
“Your taste…”
“Is still so unreasonable,” Dharma Transmitter Wei shook his head slightly, unable to agree.
“You are still so unenlightened and annoying,” Law Transmitter Zhou also said with a hint of sarcasm.
“I think it’s quite nice. Especially this outfit, it suits you very well, senior,” Li Fan interjected at that moment.
The gaze of both Dharma Transmitters landed on Li Fan simultaneously.
“Heeheehee, young people’s tastes are so much better than some old fuddy-duddies. That’s why I like to collect young ones,” Law Transmitter Zhou said, smiling as she sized up Li Fan.
“Kid, if you have any motives, you’d better speak plainly. This old man’s patience is very limited,” said Dharma Transmitter Wei, his expression not as pleasant.
However, Li Fan could tell that Wei’s anger was but an act.
At this moment, the three of them were at the top floor of the tallest building in the city, with an extravagant view of the bustling city below them, visible through the massive glass curtain wall.
The entire floor was bare except for an office desk and sofa in the center and the red carpet that covered the entire floor.
Li Fan took a seat on the sofa as casually as if he were in his own home.
Then he began to recount his reasons for seeking out Law Transmitter Zhou: “I want to know what exactly happened at the Ten Thousand Immortal Alliance headquarters five years ago.”
“And where the real Tianxuan Mirror is now.”
Dharma Transmitter Wei had been locked up for many years and was still not fully aware of the situation.
Whereas Law Transmitter Zhou’s indifferent expression slowly faded. She scrutinized Li Fan, seemingly trying to guess his history.
“You appear out of nowhere in front of me and demand such a great secret.”
“Young one, from where do you draw such confidence?”
Zhou’s tone gradually changed from lazy to icy cold: “Nothing but Nascent Soul Stage. Even if you’ve swallowed a bit of the grandeur of the Heavenly Abyss, you are still just at the Nascent Soul Realm.”
“How dare you speak to me like this?”
Li Fan remained composed: “I always speak to you Dharma Transmitters like this. Isn’t the fact that you didn’t attack me directly and chose to test me with words proof of my confidence?”
The atmosphere instantly tensed up again.
But it thawed in an instant with Law Transmitter Zhou’s charming smile.
“What you said is true.”
“I haven’t seen a young person as outstanding as you for quite some time. Why not become one of my collected items?”
“If you’re willing, whatever secret you wish to know, I can tell you,” said Law Transmitter Zhou, her tone becoming as casual as before.
