- Chapter 1139 - 1094: Stealthily Searching for a Glimmer of Hope
“The more frequently we implore the Power of Darkness, the more cracks it creates, and the stronger the possibility of its invasion becomes,”
Li Fan analyzed the characteristics of the Power of Darkness with a calm demeanor.
It was imaginable that, if not for the mysterious force anchoring the Ocean of Darkness, the Xuanhuang World would have long been riddled with holes from the Tidal Wave of Darkness.
“The existence of the Immortal Ruins led to the formation of the Ocean of Darkness. So then, what is it that, unbeknownst to the common folks, erases this crisis into the realm of the unseen?”
Reflecting upon Mo Rubing’s desperate attempt to enter the Ghost Realm, Li Fan was nearly certain there must be something related to the King of Mystic Sky there.
Perhaps it was his lingering power.
Or perhaps…
It was the man himself.
From the You Clan, three young descendants were selected to have the ritual of communicating with the Power of Darkness imparted to them respectively.
Li Fan, on the other hand, took the You Tribe Chieftain and over a dozen robust clansmen out of the Spirit Tree Realm.
Given the presence of the Tidal Wave of Darkness which led to the assault of the Power of Darkness, Li Fan naturally wouldn’t conduct the ritual at his own home.
Fortunately, he knew of many masterless Small Worlds.
Half a day later, Li Fan had chosen an appropriate one and infiltrated it.
This Small World had no ground.
Only continuous underground caverns. The only light source was the occasional presence of luminescent moss on the cavern walls.
It was actually rather suitable for the You Clan People to live in.
Under the urging of Fang Zaiji, the You Tribe Chieftain commenced the ritual to open the Pathway to the Dark Realm.
Thereafter, Li Fan ordered him to lead the way.
Li Fan himself, along with Tianyang, the Craftsman, Liu Ruchen, and Fang Zaiji—five of them holding hands—followed closely behind.
They re-entered the boundless Dark Realm.
Li Fan had become accustomed to much of it.
The Craftsman and the others, however, clearly exuded feelings of tension and fear.
Even though they had been forewarned and were mentally prepared in advance.
Yet, when truly present in the moment, it was hard to shake off such emotions.
The connected group communicated through Divine Sense.
“Can you detect the presence of the Alliance of Thousands of Immortals here?”
Li Fan inquired of the You Tribe Chieftain.
He, however, gave a negative response.
“The Power of Darkness is too profound. Even we who have resided here a long time can hardly perceive our surroundings. Furthermore, it’s been quite a while since I’ve been home. Envoy, please allow me some time to readjust…”
Hearing this response made Li Fan instantly more vigilant.
Thankfully, it seems he worried too much.
After a while, the You Tribe Chieftain finally discerned their bearings approximately.
“Follow me. Not far from here is where we used to reside. If the Alliance of Thousands of Immortals has stationed themselves here, they will have certainly chosen that place.”
After an indefinite period in the darkness, the You Tribe Chieftain suddenly halted.
“There are indeed people, and not just a few. The Ocean of Darkness has been affected by this and has emitted erratic waves,” he explained to Li Fan and the others, his tone laced with hatred.
Only then did Li Fan notice.
The inexplicable rhythm he had felt from Mo Rubing’s body the last time he was here seemed to have disappeared.
And above the darkness, the location was utterly indiscernible.
“It seems we have no choice but to search for clues at this Alliance of Thousands of Immortals’ garrison,”
Li Fan thought to himself.
“Can you figure out how many people are inside?”
The You Tribe Chieftain sensed for a moment.
“There should be around five people. As for their strength, it’s similar to this person here…”
He was referring to Liu Ruchen among the crowd.
“You can actually differentiate our strength?” Fang Zaiji asked with some curiosity.
“Outside, of course not. But in this Ocean of Darkness, for us You Clan People, it’s as easy as pie,” the You Tribe Chieftain said somewhat proudly.
“It’s like objects with different weights cause different changes when placed in the water. He must have discerned through this principle,” the Craftsman explained as he looked around at the endless darkness.
Fang Zaiji suddenly understood.
“Can you see what the people from the Alliance of Thousands of Immortals are doing here?” Li Fan asked, frowning.
“We need to get a bit closer.”
After contemplating for a moment, Li Fan agreed to his request, “Don’t force it. Now is not the time for a direct confrontation with the Alliance of Thousands of Immortals.”
Having battled with the Alliance of Thousands of Immortals before, the You Tribe Chieftain naturally understood the terrible strength of the opponent.
He acknowledged understanding and then step by step, he moved closer to the front.
“This is…”
“How dare they!”
The You Tribe Chieftain’s emotions suddenly showed great fluctuation.
Luckily, they were in the Ocean of Darkness, so they were not discovered by the people of the Alliance of Thousands of Immortals.
The You Tribe Chieftain shared the scene he had sensed.
Several white figures formed a circle.
In their midst, there seemed to be a small vortex formed by the Power of Darkness.
The scale of this vortex was very small, less than the size of a palm.
Its shape was also rather peculiar, with the center of the vortex upwards, opposite to the common types seen in everyday life.
But the Immortal Alliance Combination Cultivators guarding it appeared to be very anxious.
“What is this?” Fang Zaiji asked, puzzled.
“They are stealing the great Power of Darkness!” the You Tribe Chieftain said through clenched teeth.
Upon hearing this, Li Fan and the others were all startled.
“Even with the limitations of the Ocean of Darkness’s own power, it still can’t stop these despicable thieves!” The You Tribe Chieftain wished he could rush over immediately to stop the conduct of the Alliance of Thousands of Immortals.
Fortunately, he still had some sense left and was only speaking verbally rather than taking any real action.
“What do you think?”
Looking at the scene in his Spirit Consciousness, Li Fan asked everyone.
“Power of Darkness, deviating from Immortal Ruins. Clearly, the Alliance of Thousands of Immortals is not satisfied with just a small amount seeping out during tidal periods; they want to extract the Power of Darkness on a large scale,” someone commented.
“It seems they ultimately couldn’t resist the temptation to leave the Immortal Ruins,” Liu Ruchen sighed slightly after receiving the shared information from Li Fan.
“It’s just, I wonder how they created this vortex. It can’t be that they used a Small World just to attract the Power of Darkness…” Fang Zaiji said offhand.
As soon as he finished speaking, he froze in realization.
“Actually, it’s not impossible. It’s just a Small World with no special value. If it can attract such a vast Power of Darkness, it would be worth it even if it’s destroyed,” the Craftsman affirmed confidently.
“Envoy, perhaps we can follow the lead of the Alliance of Thousands of Immortals,” he even suggested that Li Fan do the same.
“I have a premonition that combining this Power of Darkness with the Essence of Source Power, and using it on a Fairy Puppet, might take it a step further, creating a real True Immortal Puppet,” the Craftsman said with a hint of fervor in his tone.
Although Li Fan was moved by the same idea, he didn’t immediately agree.
Instead, he inquired with the You Tribe Chieftain if there were any remnants of the bodies of Cultivators who had died nearby.
“Eh? If you hadn’t mentioned it, Envoy, I almost wouldn’t have noticed.”
“But this doesn’t seem to be any body.”
“It’s more like an empty shell.”
