Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution - Chapter 1097: 1097: What’s so difficult about this?
Chapter 1097: Chapter 1097: What’s so difficult about this?
“Go ahead, tell me, what should we compete in?” Yan Li asked the three of them after signing the contract.
“City Lord, don’t rush. Let’s discuss it first,” Lin Shen said.
“Alright.” Yan Li wasn’t impatient either. She sat nearby, waiting for Lin Shen and the other two to deliberate.
Lin Shen and the two retreated to the wall, whispering among themselves.
“Immortal-Returning City has so many Upper-tier elites, and for Yan Li to rise above them all and become the City Lord, her strength must undoubtedly be extraordinary. Moreover, for her to propose such a gamble means her abilities are far superior to ours. A direct confrontation would likely be hard to win—we can only take the unconventional route. So, what do you all think we should compete in?” Lin Shen asked.
“Compete…in…height…” Wei Wufu suggested.
“That might not work,” Lin Shen said, understanding Wei Wufu’s intention—he proposed competing in height.
Yan Li appeared relatively petite, probably less than one meter seventy. With Wei Wufu towering over two meters, competing in height would, in theory, be a guaranteed win.
But Divine Beings aren’t ordinary people. While ordinary people cannot change their height, Divine Beings might very well have that ability.
Even Lin Shen himself, if pressed to change his physique, could make some adjustments—albeit limited ones.
After Lin Shen explained this, Wei Wufu nodded and said, “Didn’t…think…it…through.”
The three of them realized that what initially seemed like a guaranteed victory wasn’t as simple as it appeared.
Lin Shen’s Fire Seed ability was indeed peculiar, but Divine Beings might not be incapable of imitating it.
Take the Stairway to Heaven’s secondary leverage, for example. While Divine Beings might not be able to summon leverage out of thin air, they could simply fly and replicate the movements—that wouldn’t be difficult either.
When strength reaches a certain level, few challenges can truly pose obstacles. They couldn’t very well compete to see who can…well…urinate higher. Even if they went with that, there’s no guarantee of victory.
Unfortunately, none of the three were women, and since Yan Li was, they couldn’t exactly compete in childbirth statistics either.
After much thought, what initially felt like an easy win suddenly turned into a dilemma where they couldn’t even decide on a contest.
“I have an idea; perhaps we can try it,” Di Esi said suddenly.
“What idea?” Lin Shen asked eagerly.
“This idea is quite simple but may be unfair to her as a woman…” Di Esi seemed hesitant to speak.
“Just tell us already—what’s the idea?” Lin Shen urged, growing anxious.
“We’ll have two participants: one person gives commands, and the other follows those commands. They can involve complex sentences, intricate actions, anything. No matter how strong her abilities are, she can’t force us to listen to her and mimic the same words and actions,” Di Esi explained.
“Good idea! Though I worry she might be too powerful and forcibly control our bodies. If that happens and we fail, she might lash out and damage us in frustration,” Lin Shen said, pondering.
“That’s why I have to be the one obeying commands—the burden falls on me. Frankly, it feels a bit unfair still,” Di Esi sighed.
Lin Shen could only lament that Di Esi’s moral compass was unusually high.
“She insisted on keeping you here—doing this can hardly count as bullying her,” Lin Shen reasoned, thinking the plan was feasible.
No matter how strong Yan Li’s powers were, at most, she could manipulate Di Esi like a puppet. There was no way she could control what came out of Di Esi’s mouth or mimic his exact speech and actions.
To be cautious, the trio brainstormed highly complex instructions before finally approaching Yan Li. Lin Shen announced, “We’re ready. Here’s the challenge: we’ll compete to see who can control Di Esi better. I’ll give instructions for him to act upon—you must make him mimic my exact actions and dialogue without a single mistake. If that happens, you win. Otherwise, we do.”
“Alright,” Yan Li responded swiftly and without hesitation, agreeing in one breath despite the stringent rules.
Lin Shen, Wei Wufu, and Di Esi exchanged looks, all feeling uneasy. Yan Li’s immediate agreement carried an air of confidence that made them anxious.
Nonetheless, the contest was already set—they couldn’t back down now. Besides, they still had some faith in their strategy.
Lin Shen steeled himself and, following their plan, turned to Di Esi and said, “Di Esi, say something.”
Di Esi calmed his mind, clearing away distractions. He let his brain go blank before beginning his task, uttering a string of incomprehensible gibberish: “Tian Huang Yu Jian Xing Duo Ren He Jiu Chi Ba Duo…”
He rattled off words in a flow, deliberately clearing his thoughts and speaking without coherence. He didn’t even know how many words he said or what they meant—pure, chaotic randomness spilling out of his mouth.
The thinking was that even if Yan Li possessed some Charming Technique capable of controlling Di Esi’s mind, it wouldn’t matter. Di Esi himself didn’t remember his own words, so even controlling his thought process wouldn’t help.
Lin Shen thought to himself, “Even Di Esi himself couldn’t repeat that perfectly if he tried. There’s no way she can replicate it!”
Unfortunately, with Yan Li’s red veil covering her face, they couldn’t see her expression or gauge whether they were truly in the clear.
Yan Li sat still, showing no reaction, which gave the trio a spark of hope—the plan might be working.
“Are you done?” Yan Li suddenly asked.
“We’re done,” Lin Shen replied, then quickly corrected, “Our performance is over. Now it’s your turn. If you can make Di Esi redo his earlier actions and words perfectly, without a single mistake, you win this round.”
“Is that all?” Yan Li said as she rose to her feet, walking toward Di Esi step by step.
Without making any distinctive moves, as she approached, a black mist began rising from her body, enveloping her like a shadowy veil. Within the mist, a Divine Soul Light Shadow resembling a Ghost God began to form.
Upon closer inspection, Lin Shen realized that Yan Li’s Divine Soul bore the likeness of the deity enshrined in the hall.
The black mist transformed into robes akin to imperial garments, emanating an unparalleled aura—like the ultimate union of demon and god, an overwhelming presence that seemed to suppress all of time and existence.
Even the sheer pressure from the Divine Soul made Lin Shen and Wei Wufu feel as though they could scarcely breathe.
Behind the Godlike effigy that appeared as the King of Demon Gods, six radiant colors swirled—red, yellow, blue, green, purple, and white—forming a vortex of glowing space.
Yan Li stood firmly before them, casting a single glance at Di Esi. Instantly, the six-colored radiance enveloped his body.
Lin Shen and Wei Wufu tensed, uncertain if Di Esi could withstand her power.
But in the next moment, both of their hearts froze in disbelief.
Di Esi’s figure shimmered slightly, then stared at them blankly before, without missing a beat, perfectly repeating his earlier speech and movements—as flawlessly as if it were a playback: “Tian Huang Yu Jian Xing Duo Ren He Jiu Chi Ba Duo…”
