Chapter 1118: Chapter 1118: Admitting Defeat

Lin Shen laughed. The Five Divine Souls were indeed strong, but what he feared least was someone else having a strong Divine Soul.

Under the radiance of the starlight, Lin Shen’s Immortal Suit glimmered brilliantly. He took two steps back, pulled out the sniper rifle, and pressed it against the Divine Soul, aiming the muzzle between Ji Shisan’s eyebrows.

BANG!

In the instant the trigger was pulled, the bullet directly shattered the Five Directions Divine Soul. Even the combined power of the five souls couldn’t withstand the shot.

Ji Shisan’s heart burned with rage. Instinctively, he raised his hand to block, but the bullet shot through his palm, crashed into the space between his eyebrows, and once again pierced through his head, blasting it apart on the spot.

The plaza of the Star God Palace fell into a deathly silence. Ji Shisan, equipped with the Five Divine Souls, had been blown away with just one shot by Lin Shen. Nobody could fathom where Lin Shen’s limits lay anymore.

“Just what kind of Divine Artifact is that sniper rifle? This is too powerful…” Dongfang Buliang stared intently at the sniper rifle in Lin Shen’s hands.

As a weapons expert and collector of various Divine Artifacts, he had never seen something so tyrannical before.

Bullets that didn’t look particularly strong were capable of destroying everything.

The others also assumed that Lin Shen’s victory over Ji Shisan was due to the power of the sniper rifle.

Some others, however, kept scrutinizing the Immortal Suit, thinking it was the suit that absorbed the starlight.

“An overwhelmingly offensive Divine Artifact and an overwhelmingly defensive suit—where did he even get these?” The more Dongfang Buliang looked, the more envious he became, wishing he could take all the Divine Artifacts from Lin Shen right then and there to examine their Attributes.

Ji Shisan had not fallen yet, but the wounds on his palm and forehead were healing much slower, unable to recover immediately.

With the Dragon Vein’s power no longer enhancing him and the Five Directions Divine Soul destroyed, his body had suffered critical damage.

Ji Shisan gazed at Lin Shen, who was bathed in starlight, his expression noticeably altered.

Although he still had greater skills and moves, thus far, he couldn’t even see Lin Shen’s limits, let alone figure out how to achieve victory.

What’s more, with the Five Directions Divine Soul destroyed, his body was already injured and far from peak condition. Continuing to fight would likely yield no favorable results.

“As expected of the Pavilion Master of the Central Heaven Star Constellation Hall. This battle is mine to lose.” With those words, Ji Shisan turned and left.

The battle had started unexpectedly and ended just as abruptly.

Ji Shisan did not stay for the ceremony, returning directly to the South District’s Star God Palace. Pan Zhenqing and the others did not challenge Lin Shen again and instead quietly joined the crowd to witness the ceremony peacefully.

The remainder of the ceremony proceeded smoothly, and from then on, Lin Shen officially became the Pavilion Master of the Star Constellation Hall.

The footage of this battle spread and triggered widespread debates and discussions in the Celestial Court.

But the point of the discussions wasn’t quite what one might have expected.

People were now primarily debating whether Lin Shen’s strength lay in himself or in the Divine Artifacts he wielded.

From the duel, most believed it was due to the sheer strength of his Divine Artifacts.

Divine Artifacts that could absorb Starlight Power, a sniper rifle that could destroy anything—people had already begun posting online, offering to purchase similar sniper rifles and Immortal Suits, with some even bidding a billion Great Void Coins for Lin Shen’s sniper rifle.

“If you hadn’t sold that sniper rifle back then, you could’ve pretended it was this one. Who knows—you might’ve made a billion and retired rich,” Long Xiuzi joked to Qing Lunzi.

“Even if it looks identical, its Attributes are nowhere close. How could we fool anyone? Besides, if someone with a billion to spend on a Divine Artifact got duped, do you really think we’d get away with it?” Qing Lunzi sighed.

“What if… that sniper rifle in Tian’s hand was the same as yours?” Long Xiuzi teased.

“Impossible. No matter how much glass looks like a gemstone, it’ll always be glass—it won’t magically turn into a gemstone.” Qing Lunzi shook his head with a wry smile.

“True enough. Still, Tian is a rare gemstone—I’ve always known he’d shine. I just didn’t expect him to shine this brightly. In such a short time, he’s already the Pavilion Master of the Central Heaven Star Constellation Hall. Ten out of ten, he’ll probably take over as Central Heaven’s Star Divine Official and even become the Great Divine Official one day. That’ll put him worlds ahead of us,” Long Xiuzi sighed.

“Brother Tian isn’t the type to cut ties or look down on old friends. His success is a blessing for us. Now, even those from the Mud-Plate Palace wouldn’t dare cause us trouble. If we stood before the Mud-plate Ancestor himself, he wouldn’t lift a finger against us—he might even treat us generously.” Qing Lunzi chuckled.

“I hope Brother Tian continues to do well too. I just worry that, as our statuses grow apart, it’ll be hard for us to connect as we used to,” Long Xiuzi said.

“You’re overthinking. Brother Tian isn’t like that,” Qing Lunzi replied.

“It’s not about character—it’s about differences in station. When perspectives diverge, there’s less to talk about, and conversations may feel awkward. We’d feel out of place ourselves,” Long Xiuzi said, shaking his head.

In the Heavenly Star Pavilion of the Central Heaven Star God Palace, Shi Zhongqing sat at a table with three other Great Divine Officials and Jiang Xishan.

These figures were arguably some of the most powerful individuals in the Celestial Court—movers and shakers whose influence spanned countless Star Systems.

“What do you all think?” Shi Zhongqing asked with a smile, looking at the three Great Divine Officials.

“What’s left to say? With Ji Shisan admitting defeat, the agreement stands. The opportunity to go to the God Sealing Platform belongs to your candidate,” Fei Wuliang said with a dismissive harrumph.

“Then I’ll humbly accept,” Shi Zhongqing’s smile deepened.

“Don’t celebrate too soon. Your candidate relied on external forces to win. If he goes to the God Sealing Platform, external forces won’t help him there. If he dies inside, wouldn’t that be a colossal loss?” Fei Wuliang mocked.

“No need to trouble yourself. If he dies in there, it’s his fate, and no one else will be to blame,” Shi Zhongqing said calmly.

Unable to get the upper hand with Shi Zhongqing, Fei Wuliang turned instead to Jiang Xishan. “You’re shameless to the point of throwing your dignity away, all to avoid going to the God Sealing Platform. Your acting was terrible too.”

“At my age, what’s the point of going there? I’d rather live out my remaining years in peace. Who knows? My master may eventually pass, and I could spend two years as a Great Divine Official,” Jiang Xishan said casually.

“You’ll probably never be a Great Divine Official. This time you avoided the calamity of the God Sealing Platform, but next time, you won’t be so lucky,” Fei Wuliang sneered.

Jiang Xishan chuckled. “Dodging this time is better than nothing. Who knows what the future holds—there might not even be a next time.”

Fei Wuliang said nothing further and left.

The other two Great Divine Officials also took their leave, leaving only Jiang Xishan and Shi Zhongqing in the Heavenly Star Pavilion.

“Old Shi, are you really certain he can come out of the God Sealing Platform alive?” Jiang Xishan asked, looking at Shi Zhongqing.

“Don’t worry. Anyone else might fail, but he will absolutely come out,” Shi Zhongqing said firmly.
