Chapter 1138: Chapter 1138: Who Else Could It Be?

Xiaoye continuously wielded the Jade Purifying Bottle, attempting to fully purify Huai Nanxing.

But the Jade Purifying Bottle had not yet returned to its peak state, and Huai Nanxing was no ordinary person. For the moment, a complete purification was proving difficult.

The Spring Light of the Jade Purifying Bottle flowed from within her body, igniting a burning pain as though her entire body were roasting in flames. Such agony was unbearable, enough to make even a mute scream aloud.

Huai Nanxing desperately endured but could not stop herself from letting out heart-wrenching cries of pain. This was a torment beyond the control of sheer will.

Streaks of thunderbolts emerged from the center of her brows, traveling deep into her body and clashing against the Spring Light.

The two forces used Huai Nanxing’s body as their battleground. Regardless of which one prevailed, the damage to her body would be devastating and irreversible.

This was the terror of the Jade Purifying Bottle—the power of the bottle fought its battles inside another’s body. Victory or defeat left it unharmed, while the victim’s physical foundation would be utterly devastated.

And this was with the Jade Purifying Bottle not even unleashing its full potential. If it did, it could likely turn Huai Nanxing into a pool of blood in an instant.

Realizing that there was no hope of survival, Huai Nanxing resolved to fight to the death. The vertical eye at her brow opened wide, erupting violently as violet lightning surged forth. From within, a figure resembling a fairy forged of thunder ascended into the sky, carrying boundless Shenxiao Thunderbolt as it charged toward Xiaoye.

This was Huai Nanxing’s Divine Soul. By summoning it now, she intended to perish together with Xiaoye.

Xiaoye let out a cold snort, and the Jade Purifying Bottle in her hand radiated even more brilliantly. The rushing Divine Soul began emanating Spring Light from its form as well.

The Divine Soul let out a miserable scream before plummeting from the air, its body entwined in crackling, clashing lightning and Spring Light.

The Divine Soul gritted its teeth and rose to its feet, staggering step by step toward Xiaoye, heedless of the Spring Light consuming its body.

This was Huai Nanxing’s unyielding will: even in death, she would drag Xiaoye down with her.

Xiaoye pushed the Jade Purifying Bottle to its limits, her face now ghastly pale. Sweat poured from her body, soaking through her white gauzy dress, which now clung to her form, revealing her graceful curves.

Her cheeks were flushed with an unnatural redness, evidence of severe overexertion.

After all, she was only at the Lower Tier, whereas Huai Nanxing was near the Half-step Emperor level. In a desperate fight like this, Xiaoye found herself struggling immensely.

Fortunately, the Jade Purifying Bottle was worthy of being called a Great Emperor’s Divine Artifact. Even in a non-peak state, it unleashed an incomprehensible and immense power.

The Divine Soul crept closer step by step, its lightning and Spring Light resonating incessantly, causing the very space around them to tremble violently.

It was only because they were on Temple Star, an extraordinary place. On an ordinary planet, this terrifying force would have obliterated it countless times over by now.

Xiaona watched Xiaoye and the Divine Soul intently, her heart filled with worry yet powerless to intervene. Her Red Gourd was still refining a Divine Soul and a spiritual weapon, leaving it temporarily unavailable.

Given her power, which paled in comparison to Huai Nanxing’s, stepping in now wouldn’t alter the battle’s outcome significantly.

One step… two steps… three steps… the Divine Soul, wreathed in cascading lightning and Spring Light, drew closer and closer to Xiaoye. It was now less than three meters away, the bursting lightning practically reaching her body.

Cold light flashed in Xiaoye’s eyes as she suddenly bit her lip and parted her crimson lips to spit a mouthful of blood onto the Jade Purifying Bottle.

The blood splattered onto the bottle, which absorbed it instantly, as though it were a sponge soaking up water.

With the blood absorbed, the Jade Purifying Bottle radiated Spring Light even more intensely, surging forth like a geyser. Its power increased exponentially.

The Spring Light on Huai Nanxing, her Divine Soul, and Lin Shen surged in response, flaring up like sky-high bonfires.

The overwhelming power trapped the Divine Soul, preventing it from taking another step forward. It struggled desperately to advance but could not close the distance to Xiaoye.

By now, Xiaoye’s complexion was ashen, a clear indication of severe internal injuries. Forcing the Jade Purifying Bottle to its limits had utterly drained her, leaving her with no strength to spare.

The Divine Soul pressed forward with sheer will, its body melting away under the relentless Spring Light. The once-mighty thunder-formed figure now dripped like molten blue magma.

Step by agonizing step, it moved forward, its body dissolving like a rapidly melting snow cone, leaving trails of liquid lightning pooled on the ground.

The Divine Soul reached out a hand toward Xiaoye’s face, mere inches away from touching her.

“Kill that little bitch…” Huai Nanxing roared hoarsely.

By now, she had abandoned all hope of survival. Her only desire was to take Xiaoye to the grave with her. Her own body was dissolving under the Spring Light, covered in blood and so grotesquely decayed that her face resembled that of a terrifying Evil Ghost.

The Divine Soul mustered its remaining strength, lifting its lightning-dripping arm and delivering a ferocious punch toward Xiaoye.

Though Xiaona knew her efforts were futile, she still charged forward, hoping to help Xiaoye.

Unflinching, Xiaoye spat yet another mouthful of blood onto the Jade Purifying Bottle, forcing its power to rise even further.

Xiaona’s emitted light burst was easily shattered by the Divine Soul’s punch, entirely unable to stop its advance.

The Divine Soul’s fist neared Xiaoye’s face, its lightning grazing her skin as her pupils dilated and her face displayed pure terror.

But mere inches from Xiaoye’s face, the fist stopped cold.

“What are you doing… kill her… kill her!” Huai Nanxing screamed in a fury, her voice raw and filled with despair.

Under Huai Nanxing’s vehement urging, the Divine Soul’s face twisted as it strained to deliver the final blow. Yet as it moved its fist even slightly, its critically fragile form suddenly ruptured, exploding into scattered pools of blue liquid lightning.

Huai Nanxing’s despair reached its pinnacle of agony, while Xiaona was overjoyed. Xiaoye, narrowly spared, saw the fear fade from her eyes, replaced by dawning relief and growing elation.

“Huai Nanxing, you can rest in peace now,” Xiaoye said, convinced that victory was hers. Once she finished dealing with Huai Nanxing, she would emerge as the supreme victor.

Dragging her utterly exhausted body forward, Xiaoye aimed to finally reduce Huai Nanxing to a pool of blood. But she suddenly sensed something amiss as the Jade Purifying Bottle in her hand violently trembled on its own. A wisp of crimson light shimmered at its peak, cascading down like a scarlet veil and enveloping the bottle.

Startled and furious, Xiaoye had no idea what was happening. Suddenly, a sharp scream from Xiaona caught her attention. Turning to look, she saw that Xiaona’s Red Gourd was exhibiting the same phenomenon. Crimson light surged at its peak, draping over it like a red veil.

Xiaoye instantly turned back to Huai Nanxing, believing her to be the cause. But Huai Nanxing was already at death’s door, barely clinging to life. Her feeble state made it unlikely for her to be behind this.

If not her… then who?
