Chapter 1156: Chapter 1156: A Family

The wine from the wine gourd shot toward Lin Shen’s face like a sword. Lin Shen extended a finger, and Finger Sand directly pierced through the liquid.

However, the liquid spilled onto Lin Shen’s body, and in an instant, it enveloped him completely.

A mass of wine wrapped around Lin Shen’s body. No matter how much Lin Shen struggled, the liquid merely changed shape but showed no signs of letting him escape.

The liquid seeped into every corner, attempting to infiltrate Lin Shen’s body through his pores. Yet it was blocked by the carapace that suddenly formed on his skin.

But Lin Shen quickly realized that the liquid was somehow able to penetrate the carapace itself.

Lin Shen focused his gaze, and even with his sharp vision, he could not discern the structure of the liquid.

Everything has a structure. Not being able to see its structure could only mean its components were too fine, too small to be detected.

The liquid was able to seep through the carapace without breaking it, indicating that its particles were smaller than the gaps between the carapace’s particles.

Lin Shen urgently tried several different powers, but none of them could expel the liquid.

“There’s definitely something not right about this.” Lin Shen’s thoughts raced. Activating the East Emperor’s Water God Fire Seed, the liquid which had already seeped into his carapace suddenly flowed out with a loud rush, maintaining a short distance from his body but unable to touch him at all.

Lin Shen’s entire body seemed coated with a hydrophobic film. No matter how the liquid twisted and attempted to invade, not a single particle could get through.

His hand continued gripping the wine gourd tightly. The gourd trembled more and more violently, and despite Lin Shen’s formidable strength, it began to feel as though he might lose his grip.

“What are you?” Lin Shen stared coldly at the wine gourd and asked.

The wine gourd gave no answer, merely shaking with even greater intensity. Lin Shen’s fingers seemed on the verge of letting go.

“If you won’t talk, then don’t bother!” Lin Shen’s thoughts sharpened. The Chaos Bell materialized in his hand and descended upon the wine gourd.

The Jade Purifying Bottle and the Red Gourd, if revealed, would draw substantial attention due to their familiarity, making it easy for others to sense their auras and locate them.

However, few people were aware of the Ancient Realm King using the East Emperor’s authority to ascend, and even fewer knew of the Chaos Bell. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have stayed unnoticed in Deng Aduo’s possession for so long, despite not being concealed.

As the Chaos Bell appeared, the wine gourd instantly ceased trembling. Wine poured out like a spring, pushing against the suppressive weight of the Chaos Bell.

But the massive floods of wine were all completely absorbed into the Chaos Bell, without even a drop escaping.

The wine inside the gourd seemed endless. Within moments, the erupted torrent of wine was large enough to rival the size of the Giant Ring Star.

Yet under the Chaos Bell’s power, this deluge proved futile. No matter how much wine the gourd expelled, it was inexorably drawn into the Chaos Bell.

Just as the Chaos Bell descended further, nearly engulfing the wine gourd, a streak of sword light suddenly shot out from within the gourd.

The sword light was like the primal light of creation from heaven and earth’s genesis, or the first rays of dawn’s light streaking the horizon—part azure radiance, part sword gleam.

In that instant, the sword light pierced through the constraints of the Chaos Bell, streaking directly toward Lin Shen’s heart.

Lin Shen was startled. He hadn’t expected the wine gourd to be this formidable, let alone that a sword light from within could break through the Chaos Bell’s suppression.

The Chaos Bell, after all, was the god-making artifact of the Ancient Realm King. Though not on par with a true Great Emperor’s Divine Artifact, it was at least a half-step toward one.

Yet even such a powerful artifact failed to hinder the sword light. Its destructive power was truly beyond comprehension.

The speed was too great, the distance too short—dodging or blocking it was impossible. Just as Lin Shen braced himself to endure the attack, a figure suddenly appeared in front of him, holding a porcelain-white, long-necked slender bottle, its mouth facing the sword light.

“Xiaoye!” Lin Shen exclaimed in surprise. He hadn’t expected Xiaoye to appear so promptly, nor had he anticipated her intervention.

The sword light rushed straight into the Jade Purifying Bottle. A chaotic din of metallic clangs echoed from within, as the sword light resisted being refined, continuously clashing against the bottle’s interior, trying to escape.

However, despite not yet fully restored to a Great Emperor-level artifact, the Jade Purifying Bottle’s foundation remained. Amid the ringing chaos within, the sword light ultimately failed to break free.

With an icy expression, Xiaoye gripped the Jade Purifying Bottle tightly, her piercing gaze locking onto the wine gourd as she declared in a grim tone, “Xiaona, finish it off.”

Xiaona, holding the Red Gourd and arriving slightly later, wore a face full of fury. She bellowed angrily, “How dare you attack our dad?! Die! Gourd, gourd, help me refine this pest!”

At Xiaona’s command, purple radiance emerged from the Red Gourd, cascading onto the wine gourd in an attempt to draw it inside.

The wine gourd exuded a dense mist of wine vapor to resist the Red Gourd’s pull but began succumbing, slowly edging closer to the Red Gourd.

Holding the Red Gourd, Xiaona poured more strength into it, her face livid with anger.

Earlier, with the Chaos Bell shielding Lin Shen’s body, she and Xiaoye couldn’t sense the outside situation.

But as the Chaos Bell engaged with the wine gourd, it could no longer fully block perception, allowing Xiaoye and Xiaona to discover what was happening outside.

The moment they detected the situation, they witnessed the wine gourd releasing a sword light aimed to kill Lin Shen. How could they tolerate that? Xiaoye rushed out immediately.

Despite claiming not to recognize Lin Shen, it seemed Xiaoye’s actions told a different story. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have acted so decisively to protect him.

“Wait… don’t attack… This is all a misunderstanding… We’re family!” The wine gourd suddenly sprouted human facial features, pleading hastily. Whether it was a human spirit possessing the gourd or the gourd itself gaining sentience was unclear.

“Big Sis… It’s me, Sixth! Don’t! Stop absorbing me!” The wine gourd’s face twisted in anguish as it cried toward the Red Gourd.

“Stop pretending now! It’s too late!” Xiaona dismissed its plea entirely, urging the Red Gourd to suck harder.

The wine gourd’s face panicked further. “I’m serious! We’re truly siblings. We were all born in the same furnace. I’m the Sixth, the Heavenly Emperor’s Gourd! Back then, you were taken by the Southern Everlasting Emperor, while I was stolen by that damned rogue, the Little Wine Emperor. We’ve been separated ever since—truly a long-lost family reunion!”

Lin Shen’s expression turned a little strange. The more he listened, the more suspiciously familiar the narrative sounded. It increasingly resembled the storyline of the Calabash Brothers, except that this gourd seemed to have been gender-switched.

Lin Shen didn’t know if the wine gourd was making all this up, but it seemed unlikely. After all, the Red Gourd was a bona fide Great Emperor’s Divine Artifact, unique in the world. How could it have siblings?

The wine gourd claimed to be the Sixth. Did that mean there were four more gourds like it in existence? How could there possibly be so many Great Emperor’s Divine Artifacts?
