Chapter 1774: Chapter 1631: Reborn, Good and Evil Queen!!

“Devotee, have you perhaps mistaken this place?” A Roulette Guardian slowly approached.

The guardian was a young man. He glanced covertly at Yu Suo, whose face was veiled, but failed to notice that in this moment veins had bulged across Yu Suo’s face, and her body was trembling.

“Oh, are you here to see her? She is Yu Qie’s younger sister, Yu Suo, and they say that dreadful war with the Sky Demon was caused by her. Such an unforgivable sin,” the young guardian remarked.

The guardian’s words struck Yu Suo like lightning. She abruptly turned, her bloodshot eyes fixing on the guardian…

“You… what did you just say her name was?”

“Yu Suo. Why?” The guardian recoiled, frightened by Yu Suo’s expression.

Chu Mu and Princess Jinrou were still immersed in the shock and fury of Yu Qie’s death when the guardian’s words hit their minds like a thunderclap on a clear day!!

In that instant, Chu Mu and Bai Jinrou understood.

They understood why the Human Mother wouldn’t let Yu Suo and Yu Qie meet, not even for one final moment.

They finally understood why, even among the Human Mother and others, no one had ever called her by Yu Suo again—why the succession of Totem Goddess by Yu Suo was in truth a mere identity exchange.

They were identical in appearance, and when dressed alike, no one except the Human Mother could discern who was the elder sister and who the younger.

…

At this point, neither Chu Mu nor Bai Jinrou could find words to describe their feelings.

The Heavenly Palace was cruel, so cruel, seeming completely devoid of emotion. But when they saw Yu Suo running toward the Axis Needle in despair, clutching her elder sister Yu Qie’s lifeless body and sobbing uncontrollably, the empathetic Bai Jinrou too could no longer suppress her sobs…

For a long time, Yu Suo cried until her voice was hoarse, until her tears ran dry.

The two of them were only a few minutes apart in age, yet Yu Suo had always been like an eternal child, while elder sister Yu Qie remained the patient mother figure in her life…

…

The Human Mother found Yu Suo and walked toward her slowly.

“Why? Why must they treat her like this?” Yu Suo, utterly worn from crying, opened her bloodshot eyes and demanded an answer from the Human Mother.

“In the end, someone must bear the sins. Without rules, the Heavenly Palace cannot endure. You should know that every rule of the Heavenly Palace isn’t created out of decay, obstinacy, or antiquity—they are the hard lessons learned through the blood of countless predecessors. The younger generations will never understand because they’ve experienced nothing—they’ve never felt the fear of death, never witnessed the cruelty and grotesquery of demon spirits. They are slaves to their greed for indulgence, and when something becomes dull, they rebel, defy, and disdain it,” the Human Mother responded serenely.

“Revolt, defiance, rebellion—who wouldn’t do that when they grow weary? But do you understand the piercing pain endured by those who persist in the monotony and solitude of their duty?”

“Every reckless thing you’ve done, your sister has paid the price for you. This time, she paid everything, shouldering all consequences to give you the chance to live on. She wasn’t suited to be the Totem Goddess. Do you know why?”

Yu Suo shook her head.

The position of Totem Goddess was decreed by the Human Mother. If she declared someone unfit, it must be true. Yet to Yu Suo, who in this world could be better suited to this role than her sister?

“Your sister was perfect in every way. She possessed the firmness, composure, and serenity befitting of the Goddess. Her temperance and rationality, her calm wisdom—they all exemplified her as a great leader. She was kind but capable of tough decisions, sacrificing petty compassion for the sake of a greater, brutal cause. But… she had one flaw that disqualified her: her bond with you. She would throw away all her strengths—all of what I just described—for you. That flaw is the gravest taboo for a true Totem Goddess.”

“And under her care, you became the most suitable candidate. You no longer have any bonds. This ordeal will make you mature and rational. This heart-wrenching sacrifice will instill unwavering resolution in you.”

The Human Mother spoke at length, but Yu Suo sat hugging her knees like a child lost in a storm without safety or comfort.

She heard every word.

Yet Chu Mu and Princess Jinrou saw in Yu Suo’s eyes something far darker than the doctrines of the Human Mother.

It was a seed of flame, burning with hatred, fury, and vengeance, igniting deep within her gaze and burying itself in the innermost depths of her heart without the Human Mother noticing.

“Stay with her a little longer. After you leave here, remember this: you are not Yu Suo. You are Yu Qie,” the Human Mother said, turning to leave.

Yu Suo remained seated, enveloped in her desolation and sorrow. Only Chu Mu and Bai Jinrou, witnesses to the entirety of this painful process, could understand her grief.

They longed to console her, but as immaterial shadows in this memory, Yu Suo couldn’t see them.

Some time passed before Yu Suo finally stood, weary and numb.

At that moment, Chu Mu watched as Yu Suo walked to her sister’s sun-scorched corpse. With trembling hands, she unclasped the purple pendant necklace from Yu Qie’s gaunt neck.

The necklace had been a pair, but Yu Suo’s had been shattered during the attack from the Sky Demon.

After removing the pendant, she placed it around her own neck.

Its energy was faint, with visible fissures from when Yu Qie exhausted its protective power in her battle with the Sky Demon’s ancestor.

As Yu Suo donned the necklace, a bitter sensation welled within Chu Mu’s heart.

To her, this necklace was a cherished memento of her elder sister. Yet during the Battle of Wanxiang City, it was shattered by Chu Mu himself in his demonic form, the act transforming her into the Evil and Virtuous Queen, an entity suffused with malevolence.

…

The Human Mother publicly declared that the Totem Goddess Yu Qie had recovered after a long convalescence and would reassume leadership of the Totem Temple.

But no one knew that the real Totem Goddess had shifted from Yu Qie to Yu Suo.

Though their appearances were indistinguishable, their hearts could not have been more divergent.

The Human Mother misjudged Yu Suo. She thought this ordeal would refine her into the ideal Totem Goddess.

But the excruciating pain didn’t make Yu Suo embrace the Heavenly Palace. Instead, it turned her heart against it, casting the entire Heavenly Palace as her sister’s murderer.

Outwardly, she carried out the duties of the Totem Goddess with the same grace and poise as her sister Yu Qie. Inwardly, however, she was feverishly plotting her vengeance against the Heavenly Palace.

Yet before her revolt could unfold, someone exposed her identity.

That person was none other than the culprit behind Yu Qie’s death—Yu Tian!

“Him again! How I wish I could pin him to the Axis Needle and torment him!” Princess Jinrou exclaimed in fury.

Chu Mu thought deeper.

He pondered how this Watcher Temple member had orchestrated such a trap, even ensnaring the Totem Goddess in his schemes.

Again, it was Yu Tian who discerned the identity exchange.

This man—what was his true purpose? What lay behind his actions? He was like a shadowy infiltrator, draped in the guise of a Heavenly Palace member, yet intent on dismantling its balance!

The Watcher Temple and Roulette Temple would never permit a counterfeit Totem Goddess to oversee the Totem Temple, even if the Human Mother sanctioned it.

That day, they fed Yu Qie’s corpse to the Sky Demon. Unable to bear it any longer, Yu Suo annihilated a thousand enforcers from the Roulette Temple with her killing formation.

This was but a small fraction of her vengeance, for her ultimate goal was the complete annihilation of everything here.

But her impatience betrayed her. Once her killing array within the Totem Temple was discovered, her power was stripped away completely.

She was expelled by the Totem Temple, Watcher Temple, and Roulette Temple, by the combined force of ten thousand imperial guards, to the blood-soaked lands of the Sky Demon, to the Dark Cliff.

The base of the Dark Cliff, soaked with Sky Demon blood, swarmed with ancestral beasts—monstrous entities born of untamed hatred. The people of the Heavenly Palace had long considered this endless abyss behind their home a breeding ground for abominations.

To them, Yu Suo, who sought to destroy the Heavenly Palace, was no different from those monsters. Only by casting her into the abyss to be devoured by those creatures could their wrath be quelled.

…

“Whoosh-whoosh-whoosh-whoosh~~~~~~~~~~~~~~”

A sinister, dark wind howled. Strands of violet hair danced wildly in the air.

Yu Suo stood at the edge of the cliff. She was merely fifteen—just a young girl by human standards.

Behind her were countless angry faces, a horde of ten thousand people, all clad in the solemn white armor of the Heavenly Palace imperial guards…

To Yu Suo, these armor-clad soldiers were far more terrifying than the Sky Demon horde she’d faced alongside her sister. At least, back then, Yu Qie had been by her side.

“Chu Mu…” Bai Jinrou clung tightly to Chu Mu’s arm.

For her, this was the first time seeing this scene. Reliving Yu Suo’s entire memory, Princess Jinrou was deeply shaken by the sight of Yu Suo standing at the brink of the abyss, driven to leap off as her only escape.

This Dark Cliff was the end of the Heavenly Palace, akin to the end of the world. Now, Yu Suo stood there, alone, desperate, with no way out.

Below lay countless monsters, awaiting her. She would be devoured, leaving not even her bones behind.

Chu Mu had seen this scene countless times before.

She jumped, embracing death.

As she fell, twisted vines like monstrous pythons emerged from the cliff bottom, intertwining like the nest of a maddened serpent…

More monsters lunged toward her, but it was the Demonic Flower Ancestor—a creature that struck fear into the entire Heavenly Palace—that devoured her first.

Everyone in the Heavenly Palace witnessed this horrific event, certain that it was the most dreadful punishment imaginable.

But no one knew that the Demonic Flower Ancestor didn’t consume her—it protected her.

The Demonic Flower Ancestor had been nurtured by Yu Suo for many years with Divine Dew.

The Demonic Flower Ancestor absorbed all of Yu Suo’s pain and past, reshaping her into an entirely new life amidst her torment.

What she embraced wasn’t her floral, demonic self—it was the other version of her being reborn.

She was no longer Yu Suo, nor the Totem Goddess. She belonged to no one, would never live as someone’s substitute. From the moment she leapt into the abyss, she became the queen of virtue and vice—the Evil and Virtuous Queen! (To be continued.
