“Yeah… riiiight.” The negotiator gave a deadpan look at me, not believing my words.

“No, I am really telling the truth here, believe me.” My smiling face made zero wonders on him but I could see him crack for a moment.

The bandit couldn’t tell whether the monster in front of him was lying or not. But with the helmet off, he didn’t look that much dangerous as before.

“Before we start, why don’t we start with our names.” I suggest, “Mine’s Henry, Henry Van Tax.”

“My name is Kairol.” Kairol had a thought, “You know, I heard that name before. Belonged to someone quite famous once.”

“Let me guess, small guy, bald headed, has a tendency to fuck his maids?”

Kairol smiled, “Yeah absolutely, you described that bastard perfectly. It’s almost as if you knew him personally.”

‘Not completely.’ I think before saying, “That’s because I did. Agrave Van Tax is- I mean, was my father.”

The smile vanished from Kairol’s face, “I- I didn’t mean t-”

I shrug it off, “It’s alright. I understand, my father had a lot of enemies and even more so had bad tendencies that he’s remembered for. Yet I can’t complain, because if he didn’t fuck the maids, I wouldn’t be born, no?”

“Yeah… I guess so.” Kairol felt the situation go awkward.

“Alright!” I clap my hands, making Kairol and the guards behind him shake at the sudden noise, “Let’s get down to business then, what do you want for Samantha?”

“For Samantha only? What about the others?” Kairol asked.

“What about them? Their just extra baggage; you would actually do me a favor if you would take care of them.” I signal by slicing my neck.

The guards behind Kairol looked at each other’s, not understanding Henry’s mindset. Kairol felt the same but frowned, thinking Henry was trying to downplay his associates to get the upper hand.

“Enough with the jokes, Mr. Tax.” Kairol said, “I guess because of our distant relationship because of your father, your taking this too lightly. But I’m not, we really will kill them if you think of this as less as you are doing right now.”

“And I’ve told you, kill them.” I lean in, “Except I’ll pay or give an equivalent value of Samantha for her safe return.”

“And about the illegitimate bastard? You’re not worried about him?”

“Of course not, killing him would actually be logical you know.”

“And how is that so?” Kairol asked, his face still masked with confusion.

I lean in and signal him to do so. Kairol thought for a moment before leaning in as I speak, “That guy you have in there, his not actually the illegitimate son of his king but in fact the real deal.”

“What?” Kairol backed away, “Then what’s the point in killing him?”

“Shhh! Why are you talking so loudly without even hearing the full story?” I shush him, “Come here.”

Kairol leans in again as I whisper to his ears, “That kids name is Arthur Reginold, he’s the son of the king’s third wife.”

“Third wife?” Kairol raised a brow and whispered, “I don’t think I’ve heard of her.”

“That’s because the king had kicked her out with that son of his.” I grin, “And do you know on who’s order?”

“Who?”

“The current Queen, Abigail.”

“Wahh!” Kairol went out in shock before coming in, “She’s involved in this too?”

“She’s the main culprit.” I tell him, “Do you know, before Queen Abigail became the women she is today, she had to face a lot of adversaries and one of them was the king’s third wife. Someone known for her kindness and being the king’s most beloved.”

“Yet by however evil and manipulative means possible, she had thrown them out and made him disown his only male heir.”

“Shit! That’s diabolical man.”

“I know right, talk about royal drama.” I laugh, “And for years it had remained the same until the king, goddess bless his still undying body, became ill and the throne went on to the current queen’s lap.”

“Yeah… she made our lives more retched than it already was.” Kairol said, almost forgetting about the situation and talking as if we were old friends drinking tea.

“You’re not the only one, we nobles got fucked up in many ways too.” I say, “You know back then, we could have pulled the wool over his majesty and get raised taxes from the people… now it’s all being regulated by her queen’s individuals, can you believe this shit?”

Kairol nodded in understanding as I continue, “Now the main reason…”

He’s ears perked up, “You know that her majesty is pregnant and is due in a few month’s right?”

“Yeah yeah, that’s what the rumors say.”

“Well think about this,” I point with my hand, “The king is ill and this may be the only time her majesty could get impregnated by him-”

“Who knows, the child may not even be his.” Kairol laughed.

“Slap!” I instantly slap him as Kairol recoiled back in fear and his guards fearfully raised their weapons, “Shut it! She’s still our queen, you will give her the respect she deserves!”

“Al- Alright.”

My seriousness vanishes as I continue, “So where was I?… yes, the king’s final shot and the queen’s only one.”

Then my face turns dark, “What do you think will happen if the child comes to be a girl.”

Kairol thought cautiously, not wanting to get slapped again, “People might… reject her as an heir.”

“Correct! And with the old king’s semen pool gone, who do you think they’ll look for.”

Kairol immediately understood and looked behind at his base. He understood that what he was holding was not a boon but a time bomb.

He looked back at me and I nod, “Now you understand it, right. So do you think you should still ask for a price for him?”

Kairol went into deep thought as I feel someone coming.

It was Oppet.

So I looked past Kairol and check the building to see that Platoon C had penetrated the base and was moments away from freeing them.

“What is he doing?” Kairol looked at Oppet.

“Sir? Here’s your tea.” Oppet said, placing a warm cup of tea.

The tea meant that Platoon C had successfully invaded the enemy base… which I already knew.

“It’s just tea, nothing to get your knickers up for.” I nod at Oppet and he left, giving a vicious smile at the bandits.

Kairol didn’t think much of it and asked, “Alright, forget about anything from the illegitimate, disowned boy or even from those others brats. What will you give for Samantha Religias?”

I calmly take the cup and drink from it. Taking my time as Kairol started to feel anxious for no reason.

Finally, I open my mouth and utter, “Nothing”

“Nothing… don’t fuck with us! We may not look much but we will kill her!” Kairol said, feeling the anxiousness grabbing him.

“Why would I pay for someone, who’s not a captive.” Kairol had a confused look, “…anymore.”

That’s when he understood and turned around to see sounds of fighting occurring in the building. He saw Religias soldiers and the brats released again and fighting his people, who were losing fast.

Suddenly, he felt something hot spray on his face and later saw his guards heads missing.

Kairol felt so much fear that he couldn’t even gulp. So when he turned around, he felt two large warm hands grabbing onto his face and neck.

Looking up, he saw a sadistic smile on the monster who was taking pleasure in his quiet suffering.

“Ahh, it’s been too long since I saw such a pained expression… truly delightful~”
