Chapter 1442: 705 Xuanyuan Father and Son (two more updates)_3

Gu Jiao had a good idea of the close relationship between the Hei Fengqi King and the Crown Prince of the Han Family.

Lady Nan mocked, “My Sixth Master certainly didn’t steal your horse! It was your horse that fell into the swamp by itself, and it was our Mama that found it, calling for Sixth Master to save it from the swamp! Our Mama even got injured in the process of saving it! Your horse was both poisoned and severely wounded, if it weren’t for my Sixth Master, it would be long gone! Instead of being grateful, you accuse Sixth Master of stealing your horse! Shameless!”

The Crown Prince of the Han Family frowned.

A guard by his side drew his long sword and slashed at Lady Nan.

This time, before Gu Jiao could make a move, the Hei Fengqi King was first to raise its forehooves and sent the guard flying!

A slither of surprise passed through the eyes of the Crown Prince of the Han Family.

He looked at the guard who had been sent flying and then back at the Hei Fengqi King protecting this family, gripping his long sword tighter.

“Fine, I will tentatively believe you, considering you saved the Hei Fengqi King this time. I will let today’s matter pass, but Xiao Liulang, the debt between you and me, I will settle with you sooner or later!”

“Let’s go!”

He had his servants bring the saddle and placed it on the Hei Fengqi King.

He grew up with the Hei Fengqi King from childhood and had recognized this horse as his own when he was still a child. He is the true master of the Hei Fengqi King!

The Crown Prince of the Han Family mounted his steed and rode away from Yangliu Lane with the Hei Fengqi.

When Mama woke, the large black horse by its side was gone, and it stood dazed for three seconds before rising to look around.

Mama had an extremely keen sense of smell and detected the large black horse’s scent in the air, following it out.

Lady Nan watched it dash away and called out, “Hey, Little Shiyi!”

The Hei Fengqi King was exceptionally fast, faster than ever before.

The Crown Prince of the Han Family was extremely pleased, “Truly worthy of the strongest Hei Fengqi King.”

At the age of seventeen, still able to run with such power and speed, neither injury nor poison could affect him.

The grown Hei Fengqi King left the two-and-a-half-year-old Mama far behind in a cloud of dust.

The prince and his horse soon arrived at the Han Family Residence, where Chu Nan, having heard of the Crown Prince’s return with the Hei Fengqi King, hurried out to greet him.

“Welcoming the Crown Prince back,” Chu Nan bowed.

The Crown Prince of the Han Family patted the energetic Hei Fengqi King, telling Chu Nan, “It seems to be even faster than before.”

Chu Nan smiled, “Really? That truly is a miracle.”

The Crown Prince of the Han Family squeezed the horse’s sides and said to the Hei Fengqi King, “Alright, time to go inside.”

The Hei Fengqi King didn’t move.

The Crown Prince of the Han Family asked puzzledly, “What’s the matter?”

The Hei Fengqi King remained still.

“Is it because your wounds hurt?” The Crown Prince of the Han Family dismounted to carefully search for any wounds on the Hei Fengqi King.

“Has the Hei Fengqi King been injured?” Chu Nan also joined to search.

Unexpectedly, the Hei Fengqi King suddenly stepped back a few paces.

Both of them looked at it perplexed as the Hei Fengqi King then turned away and ran in the direction of the street, leaving.

The Crown Prince of the Han Family was bewildered, “Why is this happening? Where is the Hei Fengqi King going?”

Chu Nan was Shengdu’s most experienced horse tamer. He stared deeply at the retreating figure of the Hei Fengqi King and murmured, “It’s heading towards the Xuanyuan Family, it’s… going to find its true master.”

The Crown Prince of the Han Family said angrily, “Its master is me!”

Chu Nan remained silent.

So just because you ride it, it makes you its master?

You were merely its childhood playmate.

The Crown Prince of the Han Family clenched his fists, “How many years has it been? Wasn’t it said that it had long forgotten? How old was it when the Xuanyuan Family met with disaster? Two years old!”

Chu Nan said, “Maybe it remembered again, or perhaps it never truly forgot but was just waiting for its master to return all along. It thought its master was still out on the battlefield; what made it change its view now?”

The sky was gloomy, clouded with dark clouds, and Shengdu was sweltering to the extreme.

The Hei Fengqi King galloped under vast expanses of overcast clouds.

There were flashes of lightning on the horizon, followed by peals of thunder.

The horses and carriages on the street dared not drive around at will anymore, each finding a place to shelter from the storm.

The Hei Fengqi King fearlessly galloped on the empty streets, with the thunder and lightning chasing behind it, not pausing for a moment.

After running for who knows how long, the dark clouds pressed down until the sky changed color, the afternoon taking on the gloom of night.

It came to a residence that had been sealed with paper charms and chains.

The paper charms were split, the detached parts flapping like tongues of fire in the wild wind.

The chains were covered in rust spots, and the filthy gate was already overgrown with moss.

The whole dusty, decrepit residence was deathly still, now like a graveyard haunted by wandering lost souls.

It stepped onto the stairs and came to the front of the gate, attempting to knock it open with its head.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

Once, twice, again.

It banged its head until it bled.

The last thunderbolt tore a crack in the canopy of the sky, and a torrential downpour followed.

The large raindrops fell furiously on its body, driven by the wild wind.

Blood flowed down with the water, dropping onto the ground tick by tick, as if it didn’t feel pain, using its wounded head, now showing bone, to powerfully strike the gate.

But this gate would never open again.

“Father! A Hei Fengqi is about to die!”

The young man in his twenties hurried into the Backyard of the Residence, speaking to his father who was practicing with the Red-Tasseled Spear.

The father asked, “What do you mean ‘about to die’?”

The young man said, “Difficult birth, it’s dying!”

The father and son rushed to the stable, where the horse had been in labor for two days and two nights. All its strength had been drained; the foal could not be delivered.

But the father and son did not give up.

They stood by it, staying by its side through the entire night without moving an inch, until at dawn’s first light, they welcomed the arrival of this hard-won new life.

But having been trapped in the womb for too long, it barely had any breath left.

“Father, it looks like he’s not going to make it.”

“A Hei Fengqi from the Xuanyuan Family does not simply ‘not make it’!”

The mother horse had already died from childbirth, this child was the life she paid for with her own.

The owner of the Red-Tasseled Spear carried it back to his quarters and personally fed it, watching it grow from a tiny foal that struggled even to breathe to a robust little colt.

Every day, the little colt would stand in the Backyard, bouncing around while watching the father and son practice with the spear.

“Father, look, it’s taller again! It’s growing so fast! It’s hard to believe it almost didn’t survive back then!”

“Asheng, never underestimate anyone, nor any horse for that matter. Who knows, it might even become a Hei Fengqi King when it grows up.”

“Then I’ll take it into battle and kill the enemy!”

“Hmph, Xiaosan and Xiaowu are already in line, do you think you can snatch it from them?”

It did become a Hei Fengqi King; it could go into battle and kill the enemy, but its master never returned.

None of them returned.
